I used to have a lot of pain in my joints I think is because I was taking a lot of supplements.
Supplements taken:
vitamin D
apple cider tablets
turmeric
calcium
magnesium
When I was diagnosed with Graves Disease and Hyperthyroidism I stop taking all supplements. The TSH reduced 50%. Is possible that the supplements were the cause of the disease?
Thank you,
Vanbr

I see from your previous posts you have positive Trab antibodies & a confirmed diagnosis of Graves.
What is your current carbimazole dose?
Do you have frequent blood tests? Eg 6 weekly
What are your latest thyroid funtion ? TSH, FT4 & FT3.
I don’t believe those supplements caused your issues, it’s more likely the abnormal thyroid levels.
Many introduce such supplements after being diagnosed with thyroid issues.
It is best to test nutrients & supplements where required, folate, ferritin, B12 & vitamin D are the most effective ones to test. Have you had these tested?
Calcium is rarely needed & excessive levels could cause bone pain.
A balanced diet with vitamin D & co factors, (magnesium & K2) is sufficient for calcium. K2 direct calcium to teeth & bones were needed & away from soft tissues where you don’t.
So is this appointment to discuss results & adjust dose?
You were started on 20mg 3 months ago.
Should be checked every 6 weeks, 8 weeks maximum - until stable.
Your dose likely need adjusting, usually reduced to keep you in range & stop levels going too low.
Ensure the adjustment is done by FT4 & FT3 & not based on TSH that is unreliable & may stay low.
If can be difficult to go back and read through each post & your replies, to know your complete history. It’s not a blog where information would be set out clearly & chronologically. So it would be helpful if you add your journey to profile, & include information such as dose & current results in any new posts.
As previously suggested you likely need your AT drug reduced.
Can you please ask your doctor to run a full thyroid panel to include your TSH, T3 and T4 , inflammation, thyroid antibodies, and your core strength vitamins and minerals.
The pain in your joints can be due to many things but it's a process of elimination and we would only recommend supplements when we have the evidence of blood tests showing non optimal levels - and first off - ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D are the main co -factors and if you ask your doctor s/he should be able to run these for you alongside the thyroid test next week.
