a story about NHS blindness to T3

this story is almost incredible but sadly believable.

I’ve been dividing my afternoon T3 into two doses and got confused. I ended up taking an extra 5mcg by mistake. My heart rate shot up, I panicked and went to A&E in case it got worse.

They were brilliant. Blood test, ECG, cup of tea.

The blood test didn’t test T3. Only T4 and TSH 😂

Maybe they can assess FT3 levels by how you take your tea! 🙄

Sadly what most members are dealing with.....

the almost total ignorance of medics regarding thyroid hormones!

They can only work from the basis of what they have been taught as students and thyroid disease doesn't seem to feature high in the curriculum....a fairly brief reference in the passing!

It beggars belief!!

I'd hardly say they were brilliant.....kind, yes!!

As someone who needs a hefty dose of T3-only to function I'd suggest that the extra 5mcg won't harm you and will soon clear from your system.

Don't worry!
