In April I was not well, could not function, and had many symptoms including shortness of breadth, tachycardia, weakness and blurred vision (trouble focusing). Only thing the doctors could prescribe were Omeprazole and Acidex which made me worse. Blood test revealed I was prediabetic.
April 2023
HbA1c = 44 mmol/mol
Serum ferritin = 75 ug/L
Serum Triglycerides = 3.8 mmol/L (High)
Serum LDL cholestrol level = 2 mmol/L
Total white cell count = 13 10*9/L (High)
Neutrophil count = 10.8 10*9/L (High)
The GP seemed to focus on prediabetes and nothing else. I knew there was a bigger picture, so went full Keto, lost over a stone in weight even though I'm not a large person anyway. Don't drink or smoke so this wasn't a problem. Cut tea and coffee completely. Felt better for some weeks and in July booked a private blood test some 100 days after the NHS test and it revealed that HbA1c had dropped. Please see attached.
Past week, GP prescribed 5 mg of Folic acid for 3 months and I've started taking D3 1000ui. About 6 days into this and my stomach feels acidy once again. When this happens, I feel weak and get a nagging lower left ache (bit like diverticulitis). Having to get up again in the night for the toilet too which stopped after I gave up tea and coffee.
Worried that I'm going backwards.
Is the Folic acid likely to cause acid reflux ?
