I have found from being regular and predictable, since I was diagnosed and started Levothyroxine only (still slowly getting to optimum dose and working on vitamins) my period cycles appear to be slightly longer between 28-31 days instead pre-diagnosis of 26 days, and I don’t appear to be ovulating.
Have others have similar? And, should I expect a normal pattern to resume once in optimum dose?

I would be interested to know as well. First period after starting levothyroxine arrived 4 days early. I am also always on time and predictable at 29-30 days every month. Now feels like next period is going to arrive soon and will again be early…
My first was early by 21 days, the remaining late at between 28-31 days so far.
I know cycle changes will/should stabilise but after developing one hormone problem, and not showing any signs of ovulation, I’m beginning to wonder what’s going on.
Wow. I had a uterine ablation back in late 2019 due to my cycles being 12 days.... but my tsh was 2.33 then? (R 0.45-5.33) Based on my tsh I would guess that's not the cause...? Funny, now I'm lucky if I get a cycle every 6 months. I've been all over the place since 2018. I wonder if that's when things started to go awry?🤔🤗💛 Very interesting stuff!
My experience has been similar to MsWhistledown in that my period cycles were predictable, but since starting Levothyroxine and diagnosis in April, they are from that.
What’s worse, my body does not seem be experiencing any signs of ovulation which is not the best of news when I hope to be reach an optimum dose and conceive.
Hi HealthStarDust, how are you getting on with this? I am still having issues with my cycle. I am wondering if it’s the levothyroxine or perimenopause? I seem to be having a 26 days cycle now since starting levothyroxine and I am also getting awful cramping about a week before which I never used to suffer with. I used to get a little bit of cramping 2 days before but nothing like this. It made me feel nauseous yesterday.
Hola my dear. I was just thinking about this last night and checking my cycle dates. My last one was 26 days, which is the same as prediagnosis. So, I’m awaiting the next one.
My major concern at this point is if I’m actually ovulating as I’m not getting the usual bodily signs that I am. Is your experience similar? I can’t find anything useful on ovulating and starting treatment.
I was attributing some symptoms to possible perimenopause but since diagnosis I am not sure. I am not sure there is a definitive way to know really.
I am somewhat keen to have my sex hormones checked, but I also wonder if once medication is optimised other hormones will sort themselves out.
It’s all a bit perturbing isn’t it?.
I also had awful cramping while not medicated at time of diagnosis, but not since. I haven’t picked up a pattern prior to having a period yet.
I think if you can establish a pattern such as cramping the week before each time, this is worth exploring.
I have also seen on the forum and elsewhere that women periods go all over the place on treatment, and settle down once stable on medication.
I can imagine not knowing whether you are ovulating is a worry. Are you able to check this at home? I used to buy the ovulation kits a few years ago to test when I wanted to find out which days I was ovulating. I don’t bother any more as my husband and I made the decision to stop trying to conceive a few years ago. So, I have no idea if I am ovulating and I am not sure of the signs. I had wondered if these cramps might be a sign?
It is certainly perturbing and yet another symptom to try to put up with.
Maybe having your hormones tested will be a good idea and hopefully once we’re on the right dose all of this will improve. 🤞I am considering having mine tested to see where my levels are.
I believe these can be a sign of ovulating for some. Prediagnosis, mine was so very obvious based just on just the ‘cervical mucus’ that it was s hard to miss. I kind of miss this sign from my body. Actually, I very miss this reassuring sign!
I’ve looked into a few at home tests on fertility that I am considering, and potentially take it up with the GP. At this moment I’m waiting to give my body some time and desperately trying not worry about it.
I hate that womens bodies and health are so understudied! I think we’d benefit from someone sharing they had similar experiences regarding, cycles and for me on ovulation for some reassurance.
Maybe, hopefully, it will all come together once we are ‘optimised’ 🤞🏽
