I have recently had two blood tests as part of infertility treatment and both results have come back high for the thyroid antibody (1097 and 697). I have all the symptoms of Hashimoto disease and finally felt like I had some answers, however my GP has dismissed me saying that as my TSH is normal so nothing to worry about. My concern is we are about to start IVF, should push for follow up or carry on?

What is your TSH? It could be that your Hashi's is in the early stages - and you do have Hashi's - and hasn't affected your thyroid very much yet.
I would definitely push! TSH needs to be below 2.5 for conception. I sent a link to the British Thyroid Foundation (btf-thyroid.org/pregnancy-a... to my GP when I was in this situation a few years ago. Once on Levothyroxine, I conceived straightaway and now have two little ones. Good luck!

You need FULL thyroid and vitamin testing and coeliac blood test
Low vitamin levels extremely common with Hashimoto’s
please add results and ranges of recent test results
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested
Also both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once
Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum
About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies
Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s
Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis.
Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.
Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease
20% of autoimmune thyroid patients never have high thyroid antibodies and ultrasound scan of thyroid can get diagnosis
In U.K. medics hardly ever refer to autoimmune thyroid disease as Hashimoto’s (or Ord’s thyroiditis)
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
if based in U.K.
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
