Hello. I see a few old threads regarding this topic, so I thought I'd get on to find if there have been any changes.
I moved to France from USA 8 months ago, assuming it would be easy (why?) to find a naturopath to refill my prescription for Armour. I haven't, and judging from what I see here, it's impossible.
I have only about 3 weeks left (I've been able to wean myself down to 1/2 pill via dietary changes), and am starting to panic.
Is dessicated glandulars still illegal in France? Anyone know a doctor who may prescribe it?
Another idea, order from an online pharmacy a non-prescription thyroid glandular and hope it gets through customs and hope that it works for me. Anyone have any experience with this?>
Any advice and stories would be helpful.
Thank you!

Not for me. We just arrived (have no plans to return any time soon), and it had already been a couple of years since I had seen my naturopath and received the Rx. He just kept authorizing refills, luckily. He wouldn't do so now. It's been too long. I'd need to go see another doctor there, and it's hundreds of $ to do so. I had so much hope in France, with their embrace of homeopathics. I knew about their preference for pharmaceuticals, but this is ridiculous. I'm going to go onto online pharmacy, to try getting a glandular from there. Thank you for your idea.
Yes, it is still illegal. What's more, any prescription-only medication bought without a prescription and shipped into the country is likely to be seized by customs and destroyed. It may be rediculous, but that's the way it is. Whatever made you think that the French embrace homeopathics? In any case, homeopathy has nothing to do with NDT.
You could, most certainly, buy a glandular - I don't think they even exist in France - and ship it in, because they do not require a prescription. But, whether it would work for you is another question entirely.
This is the story about why NDT is illegal in France:
I felt, because Boiron is a French company, and it's very easy to find homeopathics in the pharmacies here, as well as essential oils (noticed during visits to France), I thought that may extend to other supplements. I've been sadly mistaken, as I've looked for herbs etc here already, and am now in search of my glandular. I will look into an online pharmacy for a non-prescription glandular and cross my fingers it works, and I'll look into another link that someone sent me to purchase actual glandulars from UK to have shipped. Thank you for the link to the story. I appreciate your update!
I will just post this warning in case your response triggers PMs from the scammers that lurk here.

When you receive a message with a recommendation, please do not assume it is genuine.
Scammers are joining the forum on a very regular basis and messaging members with their assertions that they have successfully purchased xyz medication from zyx source.
First, check the profile of the member that sent you the message. Are they a long term member with an active forum posting history? Or are they a recently joined member with little or no posting history?
Once you have what you think may be a genuine recommendation, please message a forum admin to ask whether the admin team have any feedback on the source you've been given.
Admins are not allowed to recommend sources, but we can tell you what, if any, feedback we've received about the source you've been given.
⚠️ Don't part with your much needed money until you are as sure as you can be that the source is genuine.
Scammers often join the forum and post a 'fake' story about their thyroid journey, that includes mention of self sourcing their thyroid meds. This is to encourage members to ask them where they purchase their medication without prescription.
Thank you Jaydee1507, for mentioning this. I was recommended an online pharmacy from 2 people here. Unfortunately, I ordered in haste, and it ended up clearly being a scam. I lost 170Euro, and obviously never received my Armour. I responded to Sofiafromcyprus privately. Unfortunately, there are no great answers for people in need of NDT in France.
