Hi, I have taken Levothyroxine for about twenty years, recently I have been prescribed Warfarin, Can anybody help, my sleep is dreadful and I have read that Warfarin can alter your need for Levothyroxine, needing less I think. I really dislike taking chemicals, wh at can I do. Anyone out there can suggest anything I would be so grateful. x

Have you read the patient information leaflets and researched interactions?
I always look for interactions on drugbank.com
go.drugbank.com/drug-intera...
and on putting levothyroxine and warfarin you'll see in the attached screenshot what they say.
You could always discuss with your pharmacist or your doctor, your pharmacist may know more about drug interactions.
Hi I was on warfarin and always took levo first thing as usual and any vitamins 4 hours apart then the warfarin in the evening once the dose was established never changed dosage as was consistent with schedule and eating etc taking it well apart it didn’t my dosage of levo either. Hope your sleep improves.
How much levothyroxine are you taking
What are your most recent results
Suggest you retest thyroid levels 6-8 weeks after adding warfarin
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested
Also both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once
Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum
About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies
Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s
Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis.
Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.
Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease
Is your hypothyroidism autoimmune?
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
