Does everyone have low albumin levels?

A follow on from my low zinc result seems to link in with albumin which for me is also low and tied in with hypothyroidism...

Serum albumin level (XE2eA) 36 g/L [35 - 50]

Low zinc and albumin are linked with fatigue and hormone control / transportation...

It's interesting what you say about, Low zinc and albumin are linked with fatigue and hormone control / transportation...

I've never looked into it, I have liver function tested regularly unsure why 🤔 but my latest test shown 36 too..

normally I average around 39-40. from my records I can see the last time I was as low as 36 was 2018.

Haven't the foggiest what my zinc levels are, don't think it's ever been tested. but I take 2 X 15mg zinc citrate only when I remember tbh or when I'm under the weather 🙄

I used to take picolinate, can't remember why I changed.

Will attach screenshot of what I can squeeze in, so you can see the change since it's the 4th time this year it's been tested alongside FBC.

We know my thyroid levels have been crappy lately but my lowest T4 was actually between Nov 22 & January this year.

Having Thyroid tested again tomorrow but don't think I'm having another MOT so probably not going to be helpful to compare.

Average around 39-40 apart from late 2018 which I can't squeeze in the screenshot.. lol.

Hey you 👋... yet another thing that afflicts us hypo's it would seem, I put mine down to not eating red meat or dairy but think I need to tackle this next as low albumin makes for grim reading 😕

I can only go back to 11 Jun 2019 Serum albumin level (XE2eA) 37 g/L [35 - 50] before T3

But thinking about it 2019 was before I even knew I couldn't tolerate dairy and beef so would have been eating quite a bit of both

24 Aug 2010 Serum albumin level (XE2eA) 43 g/L [35 - 50] which is before Levo

Interesting that your level improved when your fT4 was low??

I'm thinking I shall add egg whites into my routine...

I do now have a GP appointment next month to discuss their vague advice about zinc and I shall enquire about copper and albumin levels for what it's worth 🤨 shan't hold my breath for any great words of wisdom thought

They are obviously keeping an eye on yours to be testing so regularly? Perhaps worth asking when you are getting stabbed see if you can gain any knowledge?

I know another thing to keep an eye on now. 😩 oh man. Glad you brought attention to it really.

I think you might be right re: lack of red meat, I'm not great at getting it in, but I do take dairy every day.

Interesting link on your levels being decent before levo.

I never knew the importance of this albumin level, but agree seems grim having it so close to going under.. now I know it's a transporter of cortisol aswel, that makes sense, being wonky there aswel lol..

I had 9am cortisol test today 🤗 so anticipating the result.

I'm not sure they are keeping an eye on the albumin levels particularly. I just do get kidney & liver function tests done regularly, CBC I think.

had a few funny kidney ones but they seem to fluctuate with me anyway.

Trouble is you know what the drs are like, since we are not actually 'under range' they won't bat an eyelid. Just like being half dead with iron deficiency they don't give a damn ☹️

Be interesting to see how your appointment does go since they tested zinc can imagine you will be informing them more than them advising you.. Lol.

Did you get copper tested?

I wonder if it is high & out of sync with your zinc..

Didn't see your message before bloods this morning, but HCA never really knows much.

I will query it with GP next month, especially as I do have a fair size swelling under my knee going towards my calf, which actually I've been saying it seems like 'fluid leaking'.

so I need to push for that to be looked at properly as it's a couple of months since it appeared now. 🤔

Blimey will be ever stop having something wonky.. 🤣

That'll be interesting to see what they make of your result 🤨

I'm going to see if I can at least get copper tested to have some idea where it's at... and start eating eggs until I cluck 😝

Did my Our Future Health blood draw yesterday...

Low BP and cholesterol.... low seems to be my 'thing' 😏

So cortisol was 364 nmol/L a bit lower than August last year, I doubt I'm going to get any help from Endo there, I'm probably going to look into glandulars, ☹️

I'm annoyed as I was looking at a referral my GP had done for an ultrasound on my rib & I see she wrote "worried about cortisol, private test shown a raised level, agreed to test cortisol" omg.. if it was raised it would be easier than trying to explain the low side 😩

Had a text to book an appointment about my thyroid results, T4 is still only 14 on 100mg how rubbish, told em I don't need to discuss my TSH with them.

😂 Will see what my T3 MMH result is on the whole 20mcg, I hope it's improved. Don't feel like it has though.

I hope you get the copper test 🤞 best of luck.

haha at clucking 🐣

I like eggs, especially in summer with salad,

sometimes they do affect my belly, but it depends how they are done in my case.

Our future health looks interesting I think you are right low being your thing.

That's quite high then compared to your free cortisol result?

I wonder how you free some more of it up 🤷‍♀️🤣

Citrinesun in reply toTiggerMe

Yeah 🤔 I don't have a clue how to work it out, but looking at NHS they say anything below <350 8-10am should warrant SS test, so I guess it isn't far off there really.?

I will still push for Endo to look into it given my symptoms.

Not great is it 😳

Not great thats for sure but you are still in range so maybe you can figure out what’s causing it before it falls below.

Dietary wise I can eat more nuts and egg whites, can't tolerate the other options

Low for at least 4 years

I don't drink, haven't any inflammation CRP 2mg/L <5, kidney function much improved since starting T3

Think it is one of those vicious circles... no real appetite due to feeling crummy for years has reduced albumin which decreases appetite

Interesting that it is all tied in with low zinc

Thought more people might have come across it as it is linked with Hypo/ Hyper

Oh dear Eeyore100. There is so much to consider. It’s another layer you are talking about here, that many of us may yet have to uncover. I feel relatively far down the road now in the collation of info. However as yet unable to apply a lot of it. Recently I have had so many blood tests which take time to understand. If I come across it I will be straight back on to you - having not seen info on this at all! Keep pioneering Eeyore100. We expect nothing less from you.

Hi arT, it is a common test lumped in with liver function and protein that I stumbled across in connection with zinc.... alas another thing us hypos aren't good at holding onto 😕
