Hi I may be imagining this but could a increase in levo cause upset stomach it was increased from 100 to 125 my stomach isn't right since but don't know if that's a coincidence or could it be cream in my coffee but I've had cream with coffee for a while never had issues .it doesn't make any sense I know because I'm sure if it was upsetting my stomach it would have on the 100 dose . Thought I'd ask here.

For the extra 25mcg have you been given a different brand from your 100mcg brand? If so is it Teva for the 25mcg, that brand causes adverse reactions in a lot of our members, thought to be because it contains mannitol in place of lactose.

Is upset stomach one of them ?

There are many, many reactions reported, some common, some less so.

So is it Teva you've been given? If so then do a yellow card report, let your GP and pharmacy know you've had an adverse reaction and ask for your usual brand in 50mcg dose as well as 100mcg, then you can cut the 50s in half and take half each day in addition to your 100s, or you can alternate 100/150.

How to do a yellow card report:

So it's not Teva, it's Wockhardt.

What brand do you have for your 100mcg?

If you click the blue REPLY button directly under my post I will get notification of your reply, if you don't I may not see your reply.

It's not my usual brand but I've only took one so it's not that my upset stomach as gone on for a good few weeks the 100 of levo brand is aristo usually don't have this brand .. I've been put on tramdol also for rhematoid but I'd think that would cause the opposite as in constipation i don't know maybe if I stop 25 see if it settle down then I'd know for sure same with tramdol only then would it know of it causing upset stomach

So as you've only taken one then you can't know yet if it's the new brand of Levo or something else causing it.

Did you start the Tramadol at the same time? If so it could be that or the Tramadol interacting with something else you take.

I take toclizumab weekly injectiin for my rhematoid levo and a statin . Teva levothyroxine was taken off the market in 2012.

And then returned, with an entirely different formulation, in around 2016.

That is, towards four years with Teva levothyroxine not being available in the UK.

Seaside Susie has great advice. But I have to say, that I always get a stomach upset when my dosage is increased. As has happened three times in recent years. It usually goes away after a couple of weeks once my body has adapted. However, I now split my increases by half (ie.12.5 instead of the full 25) for the first two or three weeks and titrate upwards slowly but surely. Seems to work for me...

I am like you SilverSavvy. I get upset stomach with dosage changes as well. I have ginger tablets that I take if it gets too bad. It generally settles down after a few weeks.

I increased my dose about 2 weeks ago and going through all kinds of fun adjustments right now. I can getvteary-eyed as well.

I take Teva and have upset tummy, feel nauseous, now I take apple cider vinegar capsule 2 hours after meds each morning and appears to be working. I have low stomach acid, which is what my problem is /was? Also I insist on Teva only as i do have a sensitivity to lactose as well as gluten. Hope you get it sorted🌸🌸🌸🌸

Teva is fine with me I've had that forbmany years it's the new 25 they added recently I think it's called wockhardk that may be causing my issue I've knocked it of today to see if that's the issue

Have you considered trying Aristo (also supplied as Vencamil) - available in 100 micrograms only at present.

It has neither mannitol nor lactose. (And virtually no UK medicines contain gluten.)

That’s just made me wonder now as I’ve been getting an upset stomach since taking Teva. The Drs and pharmacist are aware that I’ve had issues with this in the past and it does state I don’t want this levo medication but they keep sending me it, stating they don’t have anything else available as I’m taking 175 mg levo.

I couldn’t remember what issues I had years ago with Teva all I can remember is it made me feel ill. And I came online here, to see if anyone else was suffering and I read that many others were also experiencing issues with Teva.

I’m quite poorly with other health issues too, I’ve Adenomyosis and Teds disease. I’m takin ProStap injections and I’m slowly coming off steroids too, so I wasn’t too sure what was giving me the upset stomach but I didn’t have tummy issues initially with steroids or ProStap so I am wondering if it’s the Terva.
