Hypothyroidism and low ferritin

Hello,I would really appreciate any advice on the following as am beginning to really suffer.

I am taking T3 as unable to take Levothyroxine and have been generally ok for nearly 17years.

I have recently had very low ferritin levels and became quite unwell.

GP advised to take iron tablets ... 5hr gap between taking T3.

This worked for a few months but I feel extremely unwell again, this time because the iron tablets (ferrous sulphate) are affecting absorption of T3.

I would really if anyone has any advice on how to be able to maintain ferritin levels without affecting absorption of my thyroid meds.

Thank you

Do you have recent blood results to share with us, especially FT3?

Other than iron what supplements are you taking?

What are you latest results for folate, B12 & D3? We need OPTIMAL levels of all these vitamins for our thyroid hormone to work well.

It's ideal if you can always get the same brand of lT3 at every prescription. You can do this by getting GP to write the brand you prefer in the first line of the prescription. Many people find that different brands are not interchangeable.

Do you know if you had positive thyroid antibodies? Many with autoimmune thyroid disease aka Hashimoto's benefit from a gluten free diet. A smaller percentage of those also need

What time do you usually take your T3?

There are lots more options for iron supplements than just ferrous sulfate, which is tolerated poorly by lots of people.

I wrote a reply about iron supplements available in the UK in this post (ignore the stuff about pregnancy) :

Apologies for the late reply. I usually take T3 twice a day. 6am and 3pm. Thank you for the valued information on iron. I will look into it further and hopefully find a regime of taking iron that will not block my T3 absorption.

Many thanks
