I increased my dose of Levothyroxine 6 days ago from 75 mg to 100 mg following a private Doctors consultation. I had concerns about this because after the consultation I realised that the highest dose I took with my GPs advice was 75 mg/100 mg on alternate days and this was too high. I am slightly concerned now because my pulse is racing especially as I can’t speak to the private GP until tomorrow. Has anyone else had this happen?

Hi pebbles, 25mcg / day is quite a big increase all at once , so it's not surprising the body objects at first ... your body may get used to it and settle down if you stick it out for another week or so ,
..... but if it was me i'd only increase by 12.5mcg and see how that goes for a few weeks first, rather than going straight up by a full 25mcg .
eg. 75/100 alternate .....(or take 87.5 every day by splitting a 25 in half, if you find alternate dosing makes you fell weird)
then get tested after 6 weeks , and then decide whether to increase further or not .
if 75/100 still makes you feel i bit overmedicated at first , then you could try splitting that dose ,eg. 50 in the morning and 37.5 at bedtime (assuming you can take it far enough away from food/ other medications at bedtime )..... this sometimes makes dose increases easier to handle .
I am convinced this is why so many people have problems (and fears) around taking thyroid meds. Me very much included. These docs do not have a clue how to do it. Way back in the day it’s what Dr. Broda Barnes observed in medics - too gung ho. Hormones are quite different from drugs. It’s much better to do it slowly, gently, carefully. That’s my absolute experience anyway.
Yes, I experienced this. Please read my previous posts and the useful replies I got there. I have not been able to increase my meds to a needed level for months due to my pulse racing. You need to do it very, very slowly. I tries all kinds of things to make it work and still struggling. You can try 75/88, or 88-88-75, or if you tolerate 88 well, just do that daily. The dose of 100 might be right for you in theory based on blood work, but the way your body responds to the meds is a whole another story. I'm still hypo after months and still can't increase to more than 75/88 alternating without getting bad side effect. Last night, after taking 88 for the second day, I woke up in sweat, my pulse racing and it was a very uncomfortable experience. So I have to back off again ...
If you read my posts, many other people share a similar experience. You're not alone. I still haven't got an answer after months of trying things and seeing 4 different endos ...
NDT helped some people, but still didn't work for others.
