Bringing in FT4/FT3 ratio as useful in treatment diagnosis

This available paper is interesting. Its title hides the idea of using FT4/FT3 ratios as useful measures of treatment. Which is what we've long advocated.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl... link to full text.

off to read it now ... thanks diogenes.

Nice to see someone making good use of your work .

i've added the bit about T3:T4 ratio etc to my list of evidence here : healthunlocked.com/thyroidu.... (tsh-is-just-the-opinion-of-your-pituitary-about-your-dose-but-your-pituitarys-opinion-is-a-bit-warped-once-you-take-thyroid-hormone).

I've also have added that nice " fT4/ time of last dose" graph to replies in these posts : healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... suggested-thyroid-hormone-test-timing-protocols healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... (my-list-of-references-recommending GP's keep TSH lower in range /etc )

Some light at the end of the tunnel but why has it taken so long for some/ most to spot it.

I don't pretend to understand the more scientific details but I do understand the importance of T3 to those of us who do not fit into the standard practice adopted by medics.

Patients will continue to suffer unless and until medics open their eyes and ears, ditch their fear of T3 and learn how to diagnose a patient's need for it...and crucially, how to use it safely.

None of them had an inkling of what was going on in my body despite the fact that I was on my knees ! Mention T3 and they "run for the hills"!

From where I'm now standing this is long over due....but will the decision makers listen this time?

Some of us need T3-only to function....lots of it. If I have been able to work out the reason why, then I cannot understand why this has escaped those charged with our care.

It seems to be lack of will rather than lack of ability, given some of the amazing achievements in medicine!

Sorry....ranting about T3 again!!

Thank you  diogenes this is welcome... and as ever, for the amazing work you do!

Hopefully the tide is turning. Boelen wasn't particularly keen on T3 earlier, but her team seem to be changing their ideas.

The T4/T3 ratio was brought in almost as an aside. For me that made it all the more impactful. It’s just great to see some ‘proper’ research. Obviously I cannot vouch for the cohorts used but compared to the paper helvella brought to our notice very recently, this is a world apart. I can’t get back to the Perros paper helvella highlighted without losing this. Apologies.
