Taking Utrogestan 100mg at same time as levothyroxine

Hi, I've been prescribed Utrogestan progesterone capsules that are to be taken on an empty stomach before bed. I take my levo thyroxine on an empty stomach at bedtime because that works best for me. Does anyone know if the utrogestan might affect how well the levothyroxine works or is it ok?

The above link shows another post about HRT and Levo. I find it best to take utrogestan at night and Oestrogel with Levo on a morning (as there are no absorption issues with Levo and oestrogen gel).

HiMy gp told me taking them together wouldn't effect my thyroid levels. But it did and my tsh went way up and I felt terrible, all within about 4 weeks..

Interesting. I noticed that my feet are sore in the morning again so I guess this might be me too!

Ask for a blood test.. I had to swap to combined patches.

I take Utrogestan about two hours after my evening meal, so usually about 8.30pm. Then my levothyroxine about 10.30pm - 11.00pm before bed. This has worked fine for me, I did a test after six weeks and my levels stayed much the same.

This sounds like a good idea. I go to bed at 9.30 but might try to stay up later! I'm hoping that once the hrt kicks in I might feel a lot better and able to stay up later. 9 -10 hours sleep didn't used to be normal for me!

I can’t comment on taking Levo as I suffer with Graves’ disease but I can say that i am currently taking Utrogestan 100 before bed and for someone who never slept, I fall asleep pretty quickly and have trouble waking up in the mornings. For me, who has been overactive for 18 months , it has been life changing x Good luck

I now take my Utrogestan at night to help me sleep but when I took it in the morning, I took it with my thyroid meds. I have always been told you can take hormones with other hormones, and I suffered no ill consequence.

If you suffer any hypo symptoms after starting HRT it is usually the oestrogenic effect that may encourage higher levels of thyroid binding proteins, and not a direct effect of the HRT on Levo as both are compatible hormones. If binding proteins are going to raise, they will do so no matter what time you take your meds.
