Morning all,I will be without levothyroxine(25mcg) for 4 days,bcs my GP order them only today.i rang the chemist and they said they will be ready on Tuesday. Do you think I will be OK till Tuesday? 🙃🫣

You could take double dose Monday to Thursday next week

Next time make sure you reorder in plenty of time

How long have you only been on 25mcg per day

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after starting on Levothyroxine

I am 3 months on them,I will get a bloods done next month bcs there is no slots available at the moment....so do you think I will be OK without them for couple days?I am panicking little bit 🫥

Would your usual pharmacy be willing to advance you some Levo if you explain the situation? They can check your records to see your medication history. Or ask your surgery to issue a paper prescription today, collect it and then you can go to any pharmacy in person, rather than waiting for it to be sent electronically and for the pharmacy to dispense it Tuesday.

No I spoke to them around 11 and they said i need to wait till Tuesday,the GP send the prescription around 9am....

Try different pharmacies for an emergency coverage until Tuesday

Take the empty package of current levothyroxine to show you are prescribed

Explain you need 4 days of 25mcg or a single 100mcg tablet of levothyroxine and cut into 1/4 tablets to take daily

But failing that

…..levothyroxine is a storage hormone ….

If you miss 4 days at 25mcg ….Just take 50mcg Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

Ask your phamacist if he will provide an 'emergency ' T3 ' as your GP hasn't sent in your prescription and you don't have any at all now. Pharmacist can also phone GP for confirmation.

Thank you  SlowDragon . I appreciate your correction. The request should be for for levo then. I assume it is because I could not improve on levo at all although I am aware some do o.k. on it.

Vast majority of people are on just levothyroxine

About 10% on levothyroxine plus T3

But under 1% on just T3

Pharmacies seem to be becoming less inclined to give out emergency prescriptions and unsurprisingly they do not consider thyroid meds as vital. However if you use the same pharmacy all the time you might find them more willing. Better get yourself there sharpish (holiday weekend) if you want to avail yourself. However SlowDragon has given you a method to catch up, if you really can’t get your meds more quickly.

When I didn’t have any left this week, I was told by a pharmacist that an emergency supply of Levo will only be given out when access to a gap is unavailable, eg. on a Saturday/Sunday when the surgery would be closed.
