I was diagnosed approx 15 years ago as hypothyroid, on Levo up until 2 years ago when a doctor did my bloods and said I didn’t need to be on medication anymore and took me off.
within 4 months I had gained 30lbs weight and was feeling back to how I was pre medication. Argued with doctors for a year and a half, I have went from a healthy bmi to obese within the timeframe and depression has hit hard. They put me on 50mcg just before Christmas to placate me, it hasn’t helped how I feel and I asked to be increased so they conceded and increased to 75mcg 8 weeks ago. I still don’t feel right though and told them at the time that I always felt optimum within tight ranges of my Tsh and t4.
latest results are Tsh 0.94 (ref range 0.27- 4.20mu/l) and t4 (ref range 12-22 pmol/l) am I wrong to keep pushing for a higher dose? I have had narrower results and felt better so I feel it could be pushed a bit but would like advise if anyone can help please?
Thanks 🙂

It contains a lot of information on how we can feel well when taking Levothyroxine.
Did you get your ferritin, folate, B12 & D3 tested and what were the results?
Looking back at previous posts your TSH has been suppressed and this might be why your GP got twitchy but no reason to stop your treatment! Should that happen again then make a post here for advice.
To make a good assessment of your treatment we need TSH, FT4 and FT3 which is the most important one that the NHS rarely does unfortunately. People in the group buy private blood tests to get the results they need to see. Noone can really assess where you are at without the right results.
You are right to keep pushing for a higher dose. It might help your TSH to get your vitamin levels OPTIMAL as low vitamin levels can lower TSH.
Did you ever have thyroid antibodies tested? people with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) often do better on a gluten free diet.
Thanks for your reply, I’ve been b12 deficient since I was 18, so over 20 years and get injections every 8 weeks but they haven’t tested me in a long time because it was determined I don’t absorb b12 through food and vitamins so need the injections. As for getting any of the other tests done, the gp won’t do them unfortunately, they just say they aren’t necessary for their diagnosis. I’ve brought in research and evidence but they are adamant.
See the post I linked which has multiple choises for private vitamin testing, also TSH, FT4 & FT3. I can highly recommend getting both co factors for B12 & your thyroid hormone to OPTIMAL for best results.
You haven't given the result for FT4, just the range. But, even so, if you still have hypo symptoms, then you need an increase in dose.
Your GP displayed incredible ignorance when he stopped your levo. If you are hypo you cannot take it for a while and then come off it when the numbers get better - the numbers get better because you are taking it. Stop it and the numbers will become off again. Thyroid Hormone Replacement is for life. He should know that.
sorry! Can’t believe I missed out the t4 it’s 15.4
I feel like my life has been set back so much this past 2 years because of that decision and I can’t get back on track at all despite efforts to eat better, exercise etc. they actually referred me to nhs dietetics who have been incredibly condescending and given zero helpful advice. I told them I had reduced my calories to 1200/day and was exercising and had been for months with my weight still increasing and they said I needed to exercise more! 🙈
