Hello all
Can anyone tell me if there is any research available highlighting if there is a connection between these two conditons. For example, if you are hypo does it mean you are more likely to have high blood pressure.
Thanks 👍

I have hypothyroid and have the opposite, my blood pressure is low usually around 98/56 and gets much lower when I am poorly.
This looks like a bit of a controversial area according to this article in The Lancet. It may well be that there are other factors involved including genetics but the best chance you have is to have optimal vitamin levels and optimal thyroid treatment.
Not got any references to hand. Vascular tension increases in hypothyroidism which tends to raise blood pressure. On the other hand the heart doesn't pump so vigorously. If you search Pubmed for thyroid blood pressure it will bring up some studies.
This link isn't research, it's just an article from a thyroid website that rarely, if ever, gives references.
