Recommendations for Secondary Hypothyroidism

Does anyone have any recommendations or positive experiences of specialists that have dealt with secondary hypothyroidism or hypopituitarism?

Preferrably in North-West England but open to any suggestions within the UK.

I would also appreciate anyone who has suffers with secondary hypothyroidism to share their story & offer any advice on getting a diagnosis & treatment.

Many thanks in advance!

Hi Amy_D

yes

go to this post healthunlocked.com/thyroidu....

go about halfway down the replies to it.. and read the replies from a member called UKmale_hypo

towards the end of the post he gave somebody a link to a very effective letter he wrote to the head of endocrinology.

That reply starts "Can you see this ? dropbox/.. "

Hope you find something helpful .

What are your symptoms?

Re "specialists", I cant offer positive experience(s) but certainly suggest to avoid Dr [redacted name], Preston Royal! He examined me in 2016 and didnt even test TSH never mind other thyroid hormones. He basically said all OK after testing male hormones but did offer antidepressants (which I refused)!. After 2 subsequent letters, I gave up!

My private thyroid test results have indicated possible secondary hypo but my approach has been to try to address the underlying cause (which I know for me personally) via natural means. I can share further details on that if you wish eg by pm. Based on the experiences of myself as well as UK hypo and Tythrop in the link kindly forwarded by Tattybogle (below), at least Ive saved myself much "medic agony"!
