Good morning. I had my aortic heart valve replaced over 8 years ago. It’s only just been brought to my attention that I should have yearly check ups. Out of the blue I developed AF with a resting heart rate of 170. I underwent a cardioversion which was successful. Only now I’m being told a yearly check up on my valve is standard practice. Does everyone get regular checks. I have mentioned a lack of attention (to my GP) in the past re: my mechanical valve but nothing has happened. I thought it worth mentioning that we should be checked yearly after open heart surgery

This sounds negligent to me. Just awful. I hope they keep you on regular checks from now on.
GP used to take my blood pressure every few months but hasn’t done it since Nov 2019 and I have no idea why.
Glad your latest procedure was successful
