Hi, if I go to see a private Endo do I need to let my GP know?

I went to see a NHS Endo and they were next to useless. My follow up appointment was supposed to be end of March and has now been moved to July!

You don't need to let your GP know but some Endo's do require a referral. Also once you have seen the private Endo they will write to your NHS GP.

is there a reason you don’t appear to want your GP to know you have sought advice elsewhere?

Under the NHS you can ask, and should be granted a second opinion. That doesn’t have to be at the same hospital or even in your own area, but it is usually helpful to know who you want to see and ask for a named referral.

No reason I don’t want them to know, just curious

find one on the ThyroidUK list or start a post asking for endos in your area. You can only get a private message back as per forum rules
