Full blood panel confusion

Could someone please take a look at my blood results. I'm was expecting an iron deficiency, as I'm experiencing lower back pain, tiredness, weakness, eyes are dark etc, but my results suggest I'm OK. I would like someone's advice before I look for other answers from my doctor as to why I'm feeling like this. Thank you

looking at your previous post you have a suppressed TSH. There were excellent replies from experienced members which maybe you should consider.

As for your iron test results. I’m no expert but they look pretty good. The monocyte/lymphocyte etc are well within range.

Others with more knowledge than me will come along and give more details

Looking at your thyroid results, both FT4 & FT3 are around 50% of their ranges. I would expect them to be at 60-70% of their ranges so perhaps an increase in Levo is due.

How are you other vitamin levels looking?

I have monthly b12 jabs so my b12 is good and my d is good too.

That's great, your ferritin is also good. What about folate.

Looks mainly like you're under replaced.

My folate was low a year ago and despite this being a 'full panel" it doesn't look like they've done it.

Perhaps you know where to look next then. Folate is also a cofactor for B12 so you really need that to be optimal. Get them to run it.

All those results look OK, no sign of anaemia.

As for ferritin, although it looks good it's not a good idea to take it in isolation.

As ferritin can be raised when inflammation or infection is present, so CRP (an inflammation marker) is useful to test at the same time.

Also we can have a decent ferritin level but a poor serum iron level so a full iron panel to include serum iron, transferrin saturation percentage, total iron binding capacity plus ferritin gives a better picture.

As for folate, I've never had one included in my routine tests so unless there is a specific reason maybe it's not normally included and you would need to request it.

Not what you're looking for?
