I’ve just noticed some of Medichecks ranges are different in latest blood test done in February and I can’t work out how that affects my Ferritin and Folate from previous test I did in November which was done at a different laboratory.

I am hopeless in maths and hope some can clarify my levels with different ranges.

Below is test results in November

Can you post the other set of results so that we can try and help.

Apologies I couldn’t seem to add both photos and sent another message with these results I had in February. Could delete the post?

Ah, so the ones in your opening post appear to be from Eurofins County Pathology and these other ones from INUVI.

To be honest, I have great difficulty in taking INUVI's ferritin range seriously. With all my ferritin tests done privately (Blue Horizon and Medichecks done with either Eurofins or The Doctor's Laboratory) the range has been 13-150, and my GP surgery range is 15-300 (and that's for any age group and both male and female).

I don't think there's any way to compare your ferritin results but you if you wanted to know the percentage through range you can use any of the thyroid calculators, it doesn't matter what the test is as long as you have the result and reference range then just use any:

thyroid.dopiaza.org/ (use the TSH or one of the others, the answer will be the same)

117 (13-150) = 75.91%

90 (30-650) = 9.68%

It would be a good idea to contact Medichecks, explain the different percentages through range and ask for their comments.

Or you could go by what some experts say and this is the optimal ferritin level for thyroid function is 90-110ug/L (and ug/L is the unit of measurement used in both these tests).

As for your folate results, the test in your opening post shows 7.7ug/L (>3.89) and in your other post 39nmol/L (8.83-60.8). Two different units of measurement so they have to be converted to the same unit of measurement to compare.

Calculator here: unitslab.com/node/114

39nmol/L = 17.16ug/L

7.7ug/L = 17.5nmol/L

It might be worth asking Medichecks if you could have your tests processed at the same lab each time due to the differences in the range.

I have deleted your other post :)

Thank SeasideSusie that is all incredibly helpful. I will certainly get back to Medichecks.

Do let us know what they say, I'd be very interested.
