This study was carried out with rats however the authors do consider potential implications for humans. So, I jumped to the human health implications. 😜 They suggest moderate maternal hypothyroidism while pregnant may lead to periventricular heterotopia where nerve cells do not migrate properly during early development of the fetal brain. Reading elsewhere, to understand this condition, it seems, periventricular heterotopia may become evident when the child has seizures during the teenage years. The children usually have normal intelligence, but some have mild intellectual disability. Difficulty with reading and spelling (dyslexia) and movement problems may be reported.Less commonly, some children may have "severe brain malformations, small head size (microcephaly), developmental delays, recurrent infections, blood vessel abnormalities, stomach problems, or lung disease". Periventricular heterotopia may also occur in association with other conditions such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome" ( medlineplus.gov/genetics/co... ).

The research was not carried out on humans but what the researchers found and suggest is worthy of serious consideration.

Edited that response as it was not properly handling the link. You need a space or new line so that the HealthUnlocked platform can understand the link. You had (link) without spaces or new lines.

It needed ( link ). :-)
