Update from my last post

My last post I mentioned we were awaiting blood results for my husband. Saw GP monday, results have disappeared into thin air. As he was feeling so unwell he has been admitted to hospital for investigations. Whilst being checked in, he suffered a stroke.

On researching hyperthyroidism I see that there is a risk of this happening.

I would really appreciate any advice as I need to be asking the consultant lots of questions.

1digits0,

I'm so sorry to hear what has happened to your husband. It must be a very worrying time for you both.

Unfortunately it seems slightly suspicious that his blood test results have conveniently disappeared.

Other experienced forum users will be available soon I'm sure to offer you guidance and support.

Best wishes.

Thank you! Lot's of mixed emotions at the moment. It's not the first time blood test results have gone missing so nothing surprises me any longer.

We are both tired out with battling to get things done. I really don't think the thyroid is taken seriously enough.

Sorry to hear this.

It’s very important his FT4 & FT3 are being checked not just his TSH. & definitely not no testing or losing results.

He’s been on carbimazole for a few months?   Started on 10mg & GP reduce to 5mg went he felt unwell & suspected flu, but without testing FT4 & FT3 there’s not way of knowing if he was on the right treatment.

Doesn’t appear he been tested very frequently & when results don’t come back at all how can he be safely monitored? Ask the hospital to do complete test.

Hope he recovers soon.

First of all, I am very sorry your husband has had a stroke in hospital and I hope he has a swift recovery - and the endocrinologist can assist your husband to recover his health. It may take a number of months with gradual increases.

Also I hope you are able to keep well yourself as you will be very worried at present.

Thank you for your kind words. He is no longer taking carbimazole as causing bad side effects. Not sure what they are going to do as at the moment they are concentrating on the stroke.

Not what you're looking for?
