Levo and period: Morning ladies,I got a question... - Thyroid UK
Levo and period
Yes, especially when only on very low dose levothyroxine as you currently are
Suggest you ring reception and request access to medical record including blood test results as Receptionist being obtuse re giving you copies of your test results
Thank you I will do ask again.😬
you are legally entitled to copies of your blood test results
Book blood test for 9am 6-8 weeks after starting on 25mcg levothyroxine
I am waiting for the call from the doctor. 🤞
So I had a phone call ,and she said that I don't even have to take this meds bcs I am not too bad but they just put me on them for incase.she said I can stop them if I am worried etc....🤯🤯
First step - have you got hold of your thyroid and vitamin test results ?
Did you get GP to print out results
You are legally entitled to printed copies of your blood test results and ranges.
The best way to get access to current and historic blood test results is to register for online access to your medical record and blood test results
UK GP practices are supposed to offer everyone online access for blood test results. Ring and ask if this is available and apply to do so if possible, if it is you may need "enhanced access" to see blood results.

In reality many GP surgeries do not have blood test results online yet
Alternatively ring receptionist and request printed copies of results. Allow couple of days and then go and pick up.
Important to see exactly what has been tested and equally important what hasn’t been tested yet
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in levothyroxine
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested
plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once
Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum
Meanwhile carry on taking levothyroxine and get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing done after 6-8 weeks
Hypothyroidism can mess up your periods. Once you get to a better dose it will sort itself out but it's not exactly a side effect of Levo other than the level you're taking isn't right for you yet.
