Hi. I’ve been taking 125mcg of Levo for quite some time. I was taking 150mcg but my TSH was literally nil. My period started and was really light for one day and then it stopped. It’s usually heavy and painful. I haven’t had another period although I have all the symptoms of PMT, horrendous bloating and I period pain.
Can anyone offer any advice please?

Have you been checked for uterine fibroids or endometriosis? I've never had Levo affect my periods, except for low T3 levels making me irritable before it starts up and breast pains. On top of the hypo I suffered tremendous pain for 7 years due to a grape sized fibroid in my uterus. On a scale of 1-10 it was a 12. The pain would only last a week.
By nil do you mean your thyroid or TSH was totally suppressed? Did you lose weight a bunch? That would make some changes...Its a hormone so it would play into things...
Extremely important to regularly retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are likely with Hashimoto’s, heavy periods lead to low ferritin
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
Hi. Firstly can I say I am no expert, I can only speak of my own experiences. So here goes......Some years ago I had roughly 6 weeks of very heavy bleeding / period. I eventually went to see my gp who referred me to see a consultant gynecologist. On arriving at the first appointment I was asked about medication and when I said I was on levothyroxine was promptly told that I need a blood test as she suspected I was on too low a dose. I was examined, had my womb and cervix checked by camera and thankfully no issues. Had my blood test and my thyroxine was increased to 100mg and this stopped the bleeding.........completely. The only time I had a period was if I missed or was late with my tablet. So in my case it looks like dose can effect your period. I would always check things out with your gp or gynecologist if you are worried.
