Aristo in my hands!

wooo after months of trying I have 100mcg Aristo for my latest prescription šŸŽ. Pharmacist said it came in by coincidence recently and she put on the top shelf where no one can reach with ā€˜reservedā€™ written on it šŸ‘

Iā€™m in week 5 of my 125mcg trial. Up from 100mcg. Taking Teva but the minor gurgles and burps are getting annoying. Silent reflux is persisting despite raised bed etc etc.

no signs of over medication that I can detect.

Iā€™m impatient and impulsive, so keen to get the pill cutter out and have 25mcg at bedtime and see how it goes. Or is that a bad idea?

Next test due in 3 weeksā€¦. Do I continue with Teva till then? Then switch and test in 8 weeks or can I switch now?

Thank you wonderful forum friends šŸŒ±šŸ¦‹šŸŒ±

ideally you would wait and stay on Teva and test in 3 weeks time

Have you got enough Teva to do that

And can you bear to wait

Going forwardā€¦..is pharmacy going to ensure ongoing supply of Aristo (assuming itā€™s preferable)

Did you get 2 or 3 months worth of Aristo?

I have 56 tablets of Aristo 8 weeks at 100mcg 6 and a bit weeks at 125mcg, despite GP agreeing increase to 125mcg before Xmas, the repeat prescription is still only 100mcg on the app/system so as Aristo is 100 mcg tablets the pharmacist suggested path of least resistance to getting these was to click ā€˜repeatā€™ and resolve when next in with GP.

Plenty of Teva to last another 3 weeks but yes a bit impatient to try now itā€™s in my hands.

So if I wait, I can request more in 5 weeks and build stocks after testing and do a proper job of it. Pharmacy is sure they can get more now they had this in and if it suits I can get it specified.

Iā€™ll do that and put off the Roseway T3 appointment for another 8 weeks too. Slowly does it. šŸŒ±

yes please listen to SlowDragon. I tried an increase too soon from 125 up to 137.5 and it was terrible. I felt very over meditated. Iā€™m back to 125 and will let it stabilise.

Slow is best

this isnā€™t an increase, just a brand switch. Feeling any better? šŸ¤—

Excellent news! This is how it works with my rather brilliant pharmacist, basket with my name on it, she said there is no extra cost to getting Aristo they just have to call Alliance to place the order rather than doing it on screen.... maybe this has changed and it appears on screen now?

Makes sense to wait and like you say build up a reserve... šŸ¤žšŸ¤—I've been getting on ok with it

I sometimes point out that it isn't always a good idea to get to the end of AAA before changing to BBB.

If you change to BBB while you still have a reasonable amount of AAA, you have a way back (to AAA) if BBB doesn't work as well as you (and I) hope. :-)

Deciding what "reasonable amount" means isn't easy! Depends on your circumstances.

thank you, this advice saved me when I ā€˜triedā€™ Accord a few months ago, which lasted only 48 hours and confirmed lactose is a bigger issue for me than I realised. Hmmm tempted but I have enough stocks to finish the 3 weeks Teva AND switch back if Aristo no good so will stick with but thank you for reminding me, I had forgotten about this completely šŸ˜¬šŸŒ±

Are you still holding out before starting Aristo? If you find that you like it you can now get it's name Vencamil on your script....what a grim name šŸ˜®

Extract of šŸ„ post...

InformationĀ directlyĀ from Aristo in the UK:This is Aristoā€™s branded version of levothyroxine 100mcgIt is now approved and manufactured. Its arriving in UK in a weekā€™s time and will be in all major wholesalers immediately, by the time it filters through supply chain to local pharmacy level it will be mid-February.The product is namedĀ VencamilĀ and its unique pharmacy identifier PIP code isĀ 423-2757. Itā€™sĀ exactlyĀ the same formulation of the generic version currently available but, by applying a brand name allows health care professionals to prescribe by brand and ensure this is the product dispensed in pharmacy every time

That was I who posted about it!

It isn't quite here yet - arriving sometime this week and should be available mid-February.

Might take a bit longer for GPs to see it on their systems (though they CAN write prescriptions!)

Also, has been added to my medicines document.

awesome! Thanks helvella SlowDragon TiggerMe

Yes I held out till after testing yesterday, (7 weeks) started it yesterday morning. 24 hour reportā€¦ less burpy, otherwise no noticeable difference yet.

Cuts into 4 easily āœ…

Have a few weeks of Teva left as recommended just in case plan B turns out less beneficial than plan A šŸ˜¬
