Thanks for your reply. Is this the best test to get to cover everything you need to see to draw any conclusions?Do i need one of their other tests as well
Your FT4 is close to the top of the reference range.
It would be useful to see how well you convert T4 to T3 and for that you need to test FT3 at the same time as FT4 and TSH .
It's unlikely that your GP will be able to get all three tested so you might want to consider doing a private test with one of our recommended labs, many of us need to do this as we can't get full testing with the NHS .
MonitorMyHealth is the cheapest, see link for details and discount code
Hi is this y th he best test to get ?Should i have other of their tests to cover everything ?Would this then give enough information to draw a conclusion?
That is a very comprehensive test and I don't think it's necessary. Certainly not Reverse T3 (which is making the test very expensive and it's not a useful test). There are cheaper options which will do the job just as well and which we tend to suggest to get a full picture.
Comparable full Thyroid and Vitamin test bundles as follows:
Both tests include the full thyroid and vitamin panel. They are basically the same test with just a few small differences:
Blue Horizon includes Total T4 (can be useful but not essential). Medichecks doesn't include this test.
B12 - Blue Horizon does Total B12 which measures bound and unbound (active) B12 but doesn't give a separate result for each. Medichecks does Active B12.
Total B12 shows the total B12 in the blood. Active B12 shows what's available to be taken up by the cells. You can have a reasonable level of Total B12 but a poor level of Active B12. (Personally, I would go for the Active B12 test.)
Blue Horizon include magnesium but this is an unreliable test so don't let this sway your decision, it also tests cortisol but that's a random cortisol test and to make any sense of it you'd need to do it fasting before 9am I believe.
Both tests can be done by fingerprick or you can pay extra for blood draw and details of that will be on their websites.
There is also this one with Monitor My Health which is an NHS lab at Exeter hospital who do home tests for the general public but only offer fingerprick tests:
They all offer a basic thyroid function test - TSH, FT4 and FT3 - which is much cheaper if you prefer to just do that at this stage.
MonitorMyHealth is Thyroid Test (£29 less discount) and this is the cheapest and as it's an NHS lab it's the one more likely to be accepted by a doctor
Medichecks is Thyroid Function Blood Test (£45 less discount)
Blue Horizon is Thyroid Premium Bronze (£69 less discount)
