If you Google they're available but I don't think they're that common here in the UK.

ThyroidUK don't have a medical bracelet although they do have a few "branded" items.

If you feel more comfortable wearing one then I'd just go ahead and get whatever you prefer.

Curious why you would you need one?

Levo isn’t really something they’d need to know in an emergency and doesn’t need immediate medical attention unlike an allergy to a medication, or a wafrin user that could have internal bleeding if had a fall etc.

Once they took you to hospital they’d see on the systems you take levo, missing one or two won’t kill us it stays in the system weeks.

Think the only time I think I would even consider it is if I had dementia or a condition which means I’ve stopped taking my medication incase of Myxedema.

As long as you’re taking levo as normal, I can’t see the need for a bracelet. Of course each to their own though! :)

I'm starting T3 and that will have to be dosed several times a day.

In my well life, I rode horses. If i can find a way to function again, it's the first thing I'll do. falls and air ambulances are not uncommon. riders are advised to wear a bracelet or other tag as routine for any medical conditon.

makes sense!! Goodluck. I don’t think they’re common here tbh. Have you tried Etsy? Etsy normally has everything :)

The rationale of getting a bracelet or similar is fine. Not in any way trying to persuade you otherwise.

But I'd urge members to consider what they have set up on their mobile phones. Most mobile phones have the ability to store information that might be needed in an emergency. Old releases, and variants of Android will have differences. These links are only meant to be starters.

There might also be some useful phone apps. The issue will be whether they are as accessible in an emergency.

Apple IOS

Set up your Medical ID in the Health app on your iPhone

Medical ID helps emergency responders access your critical medical information from the Lock Screen, without needing your passcode. They can see information such as allergies and medical conditions, as well as who to contact in case of an emergency.

Google Android

Get help during an emergency with your Android phone

You can use the Personal Safety app to save and share your emergency info. Your phone can also contact emergency services automatically in some countries and regions and with certain carriers.

And the BIG ISSUE - remember to keep this information up to date! I'm just off to check mine...

I wear one when I’m out but only because I have a pacemaker and take anticoagulants both of which are important in a medical emergency, I wouldn’t add my thyroid problem to it.

I always carry a list of essential daily medications and timings, plus my GP and endocrinologist details

Plus vitamin supplements

I have a copy of the list in my purse, handbag, phone and in jam jar in fridge door

These natty little bottles look better than my current jam jar!

I wouldn’t want to survive an accident and no one realise I needed my T3 every 8 hours!

You took the words out of my mouth. Falls from horses usually happen in the middle of nowhere, and phones often get smashed in the fall. Some people have info tags on their saddle, but if you're parted from your neddy - not so much use!

Having never sat on a horse ….looked far more dangerous than motorbike….I would have a (laminated) card in a pocket with info on

they are far more dangerous than motorbikes, bikes have brakes! laminated card yes that's a point, good idea SD. just to say, by the way, I am starting the T3 today. think of me! I'm apprehensive but finally feeling hopeful.

I need high dose T3-only taken in a single dose at bedtime....never thought of wearing an emergency bracelet!

Problem is, I doubt any medic would allow me to have the dose I need....or be responsible for giving me any that I carried with me.

It may be different if small doses are involved....and prescribed by the NHS. I have to self medicate.

It must be used with respect but unfounded scare stories abound about T3

"They" are afraid of T3 ....and it's cost!

I doubt any other essential medication is viewed, by the medical profession, like this.

Don't be apprehensive....just hopeful!

Wear a bracelet if it helps reassure you. Long time now since I sat a horse but I understand your concern

T3 gave me my life back.

Good luck.
