long story short I was overmedicated on T4 for over a year before insisting on a full lab work up after my gp ignored private bloods with reports from drs telling me to see my gp, 3st wright loss, constant nausea anxiety and excessive sweating plus a goitre my main symptoms. Anyway after a year we have my levels back to normal but one symptom has remained and a gp thinks that it was probably unrelated to the over medication. I still have hyperhidrosis. She believe it is due to me taking duloxetine because that also coincided with being overmedicated. This is causing me severe problems as my basal temp is low at 35.4 when I have an episode which can be brought on by absolutely anything from putting the kettle on to say eating in a restaurant I start to get uncomfortably cold to the point of dithering, will go to the bathroom and my first and probably 2 layer of clothing is soaking wet and I have to strip them off before they bring my temp dog own even further, we are weaning off Doluxetine to see if that makes any difference, I’m now on half dose and it hasn’t so far I don’t know his to dress because if I dress for the weather I end up melting but if I layer up I end up freezing cause I end up having to take more items off, I have to take a full change of clothes everywhere I go and try to make sure they are mainly cotton, any input, suggestions advice would be welcome before I actually get taken in with hyperthermia!

Ft4 only mildly over range

Ft3 low in range

Likely poor vitamin levels

Especially after reducing dose levothyroxine, as Ft3 will have dropped even lower

Request GP test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Have you had coeliac blood test done at diagnosis of Hashimoto’s

Are you now on strictly gluten free diet or dairy free diet

Poor temperature control is a hypothyroid symptom

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in levothyroxine

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested

You know you have Hashimoto’s

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum, especially with Hashimoto’s

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus antibodies and vitamins

Blue Horizon Thyroid Premium Gold includes antibodies, cortisol and vitamins

If you can get GP to test vitamins then cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3

£29 (via NHS private service ) and 10% off down to £26.10 if go on thyroid uk for code

Monitor My Health also now offer thyroid and vitamin testing, plus cholesterol and HBA1C for £65 (but no antibodies)

NHS easy postal kit vitamin D test £29 via

vitamindtest.org.uk

Only do private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning.

Watch out for postal strikes, probably want to pay for guaranteed 24 hours delivery

Come back with new post once you get results

Fibromyalgia is frequently linked to inadequate treatment for thyroid, especially low Ft3

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking

TSh 1.4

Ft4. 23.9. Above reference range

FT3: 4.6 pmol/l (Range 3.1 - 6.8)

Ft3 only 40.54% through range

Shows terrible conversion rate

Likely very low vitamin levels and/or gluten intolerance/dairy intolerance

I recently had private bloods done not that my gp takes any notice of them and the reason I have a clinical complaint in against him at present. Thyroid was ok not great but compared to where I was last year I feel so much better my tsh has risen from 0.37 to 2.34 my ft4 is still quite high but in the upper 1/3 of the range and has normalised at 19.3 which I maxed out on Thriva at 24 but this actually made me so ill, I don’t know how with it being a storage hormone but things started to improve within 2 months of lowering my dose. I have had 2 surgeries done this year and I know my thyroid was tested before both but never got to find the results hence me having test in oct. Had ferritin, folate hb1ac and others done and they came back either optimal or normal, tested for coeliac when diagnosed with fibromyalgia, do have mild dairy intolerance. I just need to know what the heck is causing the hyperhydrosis cause with a basal temp of 35.4 then this turning me into an ice queen I could really do without it! The Doluxetine is an antidepressant and also helps with nerve pain so weaning off is not nice I just hope it is the dose now 100mg usually same brand
