I'm still suffering from hyper symptoms although my bloods are ok. I wonder if the propranolol is masking things and what would my reading be of them?? I'm on longterm high dose antibiotics for embedded cuti which doesn't help things either. Symptoms aniexty adrenlin weightloss hair loss can't sleep awake every morn at 2.30-3ock. Feel tired during the day and sleepy any suggestions?

There’s no Ft3 results

Ferritin is now lower at 40 than 2 Months ago when was 60

Suggest you get full iron panel test for anaemia

And test TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 together

Was test done early morning?

FT4: 13.7 pmol/l (Range 9 - 19.1)

Ft4 is now only 46.53% through range

Suspect you will find Ft3 is even lower

As per previous post 2 months ago

Still suspicious that this is early stage Hashimoto’s

20% of Hashimoto's patients never have raised antibodies

Have you ultrasound scan done yet?

Linked to Hashimoto’s

High cholesterol

Anxiety

Palpitations

How much propranolol are you currently taking

Exactly what vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Long story they missed my thyroid of so had to make another appointment and it 10.50 in the morn. I asked for full iron I enclose what gp did? I asked for ultrasound at endrocolgist and he said no just asked me to swallow in front of him. I did forget to tell him I have problem with food and large tablets they get stuck especially bread I struggle to swallow. I'm only taking 10mg propranolol twice a day. Yes I noticed my ferritin has got lower?

Medichecks iron panel test

Bread……gluten is often a big hidden issue with any autoimmune disease

propranolol…..tends to lower magnesium levels

Are you taking any magnesium supplements?

Drugs that may decrease PTH include cimetidine and propranolol.

Thankyou I've looked the price for scan is £165 I think it's something I may get done. I've had problems with gluten and dairy for years and gut problems. I would say 3/4 of diet I exclude them as I find my stomach is bit better doesn't help all the antibiotics I'm on.Thankyou for your advice

So gluten intolerance and dairy intolerance also suggests autoimmune disease is likely

You have had 2 higher FT4 but levels fluctuate.  Only 1 over range FT4.

Propranolol affects conversion to FT3 & your FT3 hasn’t been consistently tested so can predict is issue or not,

What is your propranolol dose? Have you considered switching it? Reducing it?

Your TRab & TSI were negative so no indication of Graves.

Have you had TPO & TG antibodies tested?

Monitor thyroid function (incl FT3) every few months to see if any great trend to over or under active levels.

Current TSH & FT4 doesn’t indicate an issue.

I'm only on 10mg of propranolol twice a day i was put on it for tachycardia was bad and tremours. Every time I went up hospital for uti they would do and still do when heart rare is high ecg even saw cardiologist. Also the weird aniexty was day and night couldn't control it the betablockers has dampen it a bit but still there. I paid extra for this thyroid test I enclose

20mg is likely to have very small affect.

I take 20 - 30mg a day & still have disproportionately high conversion with a medication for a hyper nodule.

You likely need the benefit of propranolol over any slight reduction it might be causing.

The Tsh Receptor Anti-bodies (TRab) is useful to diagnose Hyper Graves.  You also need TPOab (Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies) & TGab (Thyroglobulin antibodies).  Ultimately under active but can begin with fluctuations & transient hyper.

Is these the tests I did the ones advised on here I find it all confusing sorry

Those antibodies are negative too. No sign of a autoimmune issue affecting thyroid.

SlowDragon profile image

But 20% of Hashimoto’s patients (1 in 5) never have high thyroid antibodies

The fact she has lump in throat and struggles to swallow food/pills it’s definitely worth ultrasound scan

Anxiety can be linked to gluten intolerance

Have you had coeliac blood test done

If not, suggest you get tested BEFORE trialing strictly gluten free diet

France92 profile image
France92 in reply toSlowDragon

I think they did one years ago but I wasn't eaten much gluten I believe you have to be eating it everyday for several weeks so inconclusive.

SlowDragon profile image
SlowDragonAdministrator in reply toFrance92

So are you gluten free now?

Consider trying it

France92 profile image
France92 in reply toSlowDragon

Not completely especially with Christmas. I think i will try it and be really strict gluten free products are so expensive. There is only one bread I like and nearly £3 a loaf. It strange as both my mum and especially my Son are not good with bread. We all have/had stomach trouble ??

SlowDragon profile image
SlowDragonAdministrator in reply toFrance92

so likely all gluten intolerant

It’s extremely genetic

I freeze bread

One I think best is Waitrose brown seeded sliced. £2.80

Great toasted in a separate dedicated GF toaster

I have half a slice for breakfast

I find a loaf lasts couple of weeks

I make my own GF muesli with certified GF oats

To make

Half of a 1kg bag oats into large mixing bowl

(£4 for 1kg)

Adding dried fruit, nuts and seeds of your choice

I use

Chia, pumpkin, sunflower, linseed and flax seeds

Raisins and chopped figs, dates, apricots

Walnuts, Brazils and almonds

Half bag mix ….stored in a tin….last 2 of us about 2 weeks for breakfast.

Served with half a banana and handful of blueberries.

As I am also dairy free …..Oat milk

Lunch….soup, salad etc.

Nairn crackers are good

Read all labels.

It’s no good being “almost” gluten free

Thanks for advice i have berries with natural yogurt and 1/2 banana sprinkle with granola. Either soya yogurt or natural yogurt I need for probiotics as on so much antibiotics. I do take 2 probiotic tablets a day to. It's lunchtime it's so easy to have toast or a sandwich. When you feel poorly all the time it's hard to do but I must try bit more. I've had Nairn oat biscuits is that OK and rye bread is that OK to?

SlowDragon profile image
SlowDragonAdministrator in reply toFrance92

Never eat any thing with soya in with thyroid issues

Cutting all soya will likely help significantly

Granola unlikely gluten free

Nairn crackers …..needs to be Gluten Free ones

Look in the “free from” section at supermarket

Gluten is in anything with Wheat, Rye or Barley

So rye bread is not ok
