taken thyroxine twice

good morning hope you have all had good Christmas

I have taken my 100 thyroxine twice by mistake this morning !

feeling bit anxious how long before it calms down ?

shall I miss taking my dose tomorrow?

sorry for all the questions I have been on thyroxine for ten years due to thyroidectomy This is first time I have ever taken too much

we store around ten day’s worth of levothyroxine in our blood so don’t worry about it, it will only make a small difference. Just skip tomorrow’s dose.

The anxiety may just be from you knowing that you have taken a double dose rather than a reaction to you taking more thyroid hormone than usual. Levo is a storage hormone and some people take a whole week's worth under medical supervision. Don't worry about it, just miss tomorrow's dose.

To ensure it doesn't happen again, maybe get a pill dispenser or the night before just put out the next day's dose in a small pot to be taken at your normal time. Or get a permanent marker and mark the days - M, TU, W, TH, F, etc, on the foil back of the tablet strip and you'll know if you've taken that day's dose.
