Thybon Henning cost - shocked!

I took my prescription to my local independent pharmacy who quoted £200.00

I sent a copy of my prescription to one of the pharmacies on the Thyroid UK list who quoted £22.98

What the heck???

Your local pharmacy probably has a standard mark-up percentage for private prescriptions.

But they will just have asked their supplier for a quote. And it is these intermediate companies (specialist importers) that seem to have such high prices. Must be one company that has decided they'd rather sell lots at sensible prices rather than the odd packet at high price.

It stinks.

It does. If I didn't know about this forum I wouldn't have known how to get it cheaper and would have coughed up. I'm going to pop in and tell the pharmacist about the disparity.

As a matter of interest Pearlteapot, if you decided to just order it online (hopefully from somewhere trustworthy), would your doctor/endo know the prescription had not been ‘cashed’? I am interested because I have just taken the giant step of starting T3 without an endo. I find I just can’t wait any longer as my long awaited appointment got cancelled.

The on-line source I am using requires me to send the prescription to them, so it will be 'cashed'. I am not aware of how to get T3 without a prescription except the various posts on going to Greece, Thailand etc
