Daughter age 19 filling in form for Dio2 test from Regenerus Labs. What do you do about needing a signature from a medical practitioner? Thanks

I haven't done this test but have done the adrenal test.

Do you mean when you order it online? There is a box for "Practioner's name, if known" and you put ThyroidUK in there.

When you get your kit and send it back they normally put ThyroidUK in the practioner box. If not write it in yourself.

Presumably it was ordered with ThyroidUK as the practioner?

If anyone has done the test and knows any different I'm sure they'll be along to comment.

Hi, I did this test and put Thyroid UK in the practitioner box but when the results were ready they refused to send them to me and insisted they were sent to my GP, then I had to access the results from them!

Ridiculous, something about a European protocol.... so much for Brexit!!

If you have online access to your records, you have to wait for them to upload or throw yourself at the mercy of the receptionist to print you a copy.

Edit.... just remembered they email them to your GP so that is a saga as they have to go looking for it, possible in spam file if they can be bothered, Regenerus did send it twice and then put a hard copy in the post to GP, so it takes a bit of persistence 🙄

All very silly 😕

Usually you have to pay extra to Regenerus to get results and advice via one of their councillors…..if not got a thyroid specialist of your own

regeneruslabs.com/products/...

If you require a counselling consultation directly arrange by us please use this link specifically for the DI02 SNP analysis.

Currently page not working….email them and ask

Thanks everyone Yet more hoops to jump through to get access to T3!

They will only send the result to a medical professional. I was fortunate that my daughter is a GP and a colleague of hers kindly agreed to receive the result and forward it to me.

I assume that because genetic test results can have wider implications for a family the procedure is to send this result to someone who knows what it means and can keep it confidential.

My private doctor received the results for me, but if you email Thyroid UK

tukadmin@thyroiduk.org

They can give you the name of a practitioner to put on the form.

Hi cetj , I didn't use Regenerus, I've ordered a test from Blue Horizon and didn't have to add doctor's details. The Blue Horizon test covers a range of different genes including DIO2. I'm still waiting on my results to be ready but I definitely wasn't asked for doctor's details. Thyroid UK members can get 30% discount on this test. Hoping it's ok to post the link. If it's not the test is called DNA Blue Thyroid Genetics, you can google it.

Hi cetj I got my results through today without issue. Sent by a password protected PDF that says that the results are for educational purposes only (I'm assuming to get round the need for a doctor interpreting the results). I'll post copies below to let you see what you would be getting.

Hi, I did this test several months ago. I got my GP email address and had the results sent to the surgery. It did take a while to get access to the result. Please be aware that your GP and an endocrinologist will not necessarily accept the result as having any credence. Despite mine showing two polymorphisms I was still refused any treatment. The endo disputed the lab result was from an accredited source as it was not an NHS lab. The GP hid behind the endos comment to decline to offer me treatment. The NHS do not offer the test. Best wishes to your daughter and hope it goes well for her.Regards

I did this test through regenerus and as detailed here the results have to go to either your GP or consultant. I think I made the wrong choice, despite trying to contact my consultant’s secretary for the results, I had to wait for my scheduled telephone appointment, four months later to discuss this, something to bear in mind when making a decision on this.
