Is anyone having problems with your sugar dropping 3 or 4 hours after taking your thyroid meds? I don’t have any current thyroid test or vitamin panels to share going to get this ball rolling after the holiday.

Anyway Its only recently that I’ve been having issues with low blood sugar again. My sugar drops about 3 hours after I take my thyroid medication I start to shake and I get overheated just making dinner prior to taking my thyroid meds Im absolutely fine no issues.

I had this issue shortly after my thyroidectomy but the doctor couldn’t figure it out and haven’t had this issue since then, until now.

I found this very interesting article wellnessresources.com/news/...

Any idea why this occurring ?

do you also crave salty/sweet foods at the same time? I ask because I have similar sensations. I’ve always thought it might be my adrenals.

Thanks for responding.

Im still suffering with no taste or smell 8 weeks after my bout of covid and currently I can only taste salt, sugar and sour and nothing else so I do tend to gravitate towards those items but I don’t know if this could be the reason for my issues and why would it be only after my meds. I never had my adrenals tested and no doctor ever suggested this and Im reluctant to even mention my issues with my Endo because he will immediately jump to your over medicated and I don’t want start this garbage of removing my meds because he thinks I’m over medicated just based on how this hits me (after meds) I have started exercising (walking) not a lot maybe this could be the culprit.

hello there, I had a thyroydectomy in June this year for Graves disease.I am now on thyroxine only and doing well, feeling so much better.I too am having problems with my blood sugar levels.I don't know whether it is to do with the thyroxine or not as I was on block and replace for nearly 4 years before my TT and didn't notice anything then.I had so many other problems though so maybe I just didn't notice it. I have had a quick scan of your link but have also been doing alot of looking on the internet myself. It seems I have symptoms of high blood sugar.Ravenously hungry, frequent urination etc.I have tried to cut out sweet things but carbs are also a problem., even brown bread.I have made an appointment to see a GP on 8th Dec face to face so hopefully if I take a urine sample they can do that dipstick test and then arrange a blood test.My husband has type 2 diabetes so I know a bit about it.I suppose it makes sense when the thyroid it taken out of the equation that other things can be thrown out of kilter.I am most worried about my eyes which are particularly bad at the moment.I have TED and am in the middle of being tested for glaucoma.Hope my doctors visit is more successful and we can find a solution.

Thank you for responding.

I have had my sugar tested so many times and it always come back normal levels 70-85 so my doctor says Im fine and I can not eat a lot of carbs anymore because they make me sick to my stomach and this started 6 months ago. The only thing I have been doing recently is exercising (nothing crazy) just walking. The sugar issue is started to drag me down and I don’t understand why it’s hitting after I take my thyroid meds its just bizarre.

I' m sorry to hear of your problems. My appetite has gone really, and foods I used to enjoy I can take or leave now.I feel ravenously hungry but am having to watch what I eat which is difficult.Of course I don't know I have a blood sugar problem yet , I'm just guessing.Hopefully my doctors visit will sort it out.Carbs are a problem for me too.

hello again, Had my doctors appointment and everything normal. My urine showed no problem with glucose levels and he took a fingerprick blood test and fed it into one of those little machines and that too was normal. I'm pleased about that because at the moment I'm having a real problem with my eyes and didn't want another problem.I am currently being tested for glaucoma.I can only think I just can't manage sugar/carbs like I did.Maybe due to the operation?my age?Could be anything.I know now that it's not damaging my body in any way and I'll just manage it myself.
