Hi I'm speaking to a doctor in the morning .so if possible I need a answer today please.

I have hashimotos and receiving treatment .but these blood results are causing me some concern .I posted recently on the b12 site but I have separated these results to better illustrate the problem.

My serum adjusted calcium concentrate levels are 2.38 range (2.2 -2.6)

Serum calcium levels are 2.42 (2.2-2.6)

These seem to be above range . Hyperparathyroidism ?

B12 is 241 (150 -1000)

Folate 7.3 (2-18.8)

Vitamin D 54 (50-75) slight Increase from January when it was 47

Full blood count borderline

Mildly raised lymphocytes all ways raised

eGFR slight decrease on last year

Could this be something to do with hyperparathyroidism is there a connection between hashimotos and hyperparathyroidism

I have nodules and a cyst on my thyroid thank you

Unless I am missing something, these results are within range.

Forget any research that quotes numbers or ranges. You can only go by your result and the range that comes with it.

Your calcium is absolutely fine, what you were reading more than likely referred to USA ranges so not relevant.

Your B12 and folate are low, but not low enough for GP to consider treatment

A daily good quality vitamin B complex with folate in rather than folic acid may be of benefit

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Vitamin D also low. Are you supplementing? Aiming to improve to around 100nmol. Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is good as avoids poor gut function. Suggest you supplement for 2-3 months and retest. It's trial and error what dose each person needs. Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there. Retesting twice yearly via vitamindtest.org.uk

What about ferritin level?

Do you have recent results and ranges for TSH, FT3 and FT4 and both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies

You need TSH FT3 and FT4 tested

Will almost certainly need to test privately. NHS will refuse

Just TSH is completely inadequate

Yes I will have to pay for them doctors always refuse my request. But will they accept private results I need a uk NHS lab .

Literally thousands on UK patients on here use private testing

It was the only way many of us made improvements

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, TT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies and also very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or vitamins

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. When on Levothyroxine, don't take in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)

Come back here with new post once you have results and ranges. Members can advise on next steps

Thank you I won't be able to pay for tests for a few weeks but I'll save this information and use it then
