Hi, i have been adding +- 6mcg cytomel to my 75mcg levo for 2 weeks and I immediately felt better. I split my dose (morning-noon) . I was feeling more energy but the last 2 days i feel very tired again. I tried to add a little more T3 but then I couldn’t sleep. I also drink 2 or 3cups of coffee . I was wondering if it is possible to drain your energy levels with T3 medication.
Can adding T3 cause fatigue?: Hi, i have been... - Thyroid UK
Can adding T3 cause fatigue?
Sofie any change takes time to settle. It is normal to feel slightly better then worse the better. For me weeks 2 and 3 of a dose change are bad.
Oh ok good to know it is normal.. this thyroid journey is a rollercoaster.
Lalaloot sorry for bothering you again, I have another question.. Did it get better because your body got used to it or because you tweaked the dose after 2 weeks ?
Coffee is a stimulant and will drain the adrenals, and the adrenals are always vulnerable when you have a thyroid issue.
Hey, thanks, I will try to cut down to 1 small cup. I read you did a 4 point cortisol test, is that a self test ?
No its a privately bought test you buy online, should be in the search option under adrenal test. Its really best to give up coffee all altogether if you want your adrenals to heal. Chicory is a good substitute ( just make sure its a gluten free one )
I like Paul Robinson's blog on T3 and thyroid
I had to drop my Levo down and increase the T3. I'm currently down from 112mcg Levo and 10mcg T3 to 75mcg Levo and 30mcg T3, which I take 3 times a day. I only felt okay for a few weeks after adding 10mcg to 112mcg of T4 and then couldn't sleep , felt aggravated and extremely fatigued to the point I couldn't get out of bed. It made my conversion worse. I used to believe in adding a little bit of T3 to Levo but that doesn't work for me.
Yes the dose of Levothyroxine was too high for me . From what I've read online the combination of T4 and T3 can reduce the TSH which affects conversion. It's not bad to have a suppressed or low TSH but it's all about the balance of T4/T3 and if you're someone that needs a lot of T3 then you might have to lower that T4. I'm still searching for that balance!
