One of the results from my full blood count but I don’t understand what it means.
eGFRcreat (CKD-EPI)/ 1.73 m*2: 70mL/min (normal range 90 - 120)
thanks

GFR is kidney function
Kidney function is affected when hypothyroid
And should return to normal when correctly treated
GFR result is on low side …..common when hypothyroid, or under medicated on levothyroxine
What are most recent thyroid and vitamin results?
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
The GFR is reversibly reduced (by about 40%) in more than 55% of adults with hypothyroidism[40] due to several reasons.

thank you SlowDragon. You’ve blinded me with science. I am hyper with toxic multi nodular goitre. Thankfully its never really bothered me. My TSH came back yesterday at 0.01 which isn’t that unusual I understand as I’m on carbimazole. Doesn’t seem like a problem though, my eGFR result.
Just testing TSH is completely inadequate
Surely they test Ft4 and Ft3+
Frequently after being hyperthyroid TSH can remain stuck at very low level, even if Ft4 and Ft3 are too low
How much Carbimazole are you currently taking
Carbimazole might need reducing a little and/or vitamin levels improving
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested.
Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum
Low vitamin levels are extremely common with Thyroid disease
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

sorry SlowDragon I replied separately to your second response as I hadn’t seen it. I did give my FT4 and FT3 results. Only vitamins I’m on are Vit D3 with my calcium (Natecal) for osteopenia. Had to stop those a while ago due to excess VitD but now back on it. 5mg carbimazole daily.
