Transdermal Calcium? Pro's & Con's?

Has anyone tried this?

I've just used the calcium calculator and I probably get around 200mg a week! 🙄

Can't really see a good way to raise my dietary intake... so many restrictions no dairy, nightshades, legumes, eggs, restricted meat, gluten and certain fruit and veg, histamine intolerance.... you know the story!

Daily recommended is 1200mg 😱

I really don't want to take any more pills

Have you tested calcium

Hi SS, not since June 2019 but my diet has dramatically changed since then by cutting out all the things I can't tolerate

Serum adjusted calcium concentration (Xabpk) 2.49 mmol/L [2.2 - 2.63]

Serum calcium level (XE2q3) 2.45 mmol/L [2.2 - 2.63]

I don't know if there are other tests? I've not had a bone density test?

I have a GP call tomorrow about iron and I'm compiling other questions 🙃

I think it would be prudent to test as then you will know if you need to supplement and it will guide you as to how much. Better that than take too much and the calcium be deposited in the wrong place (Vit K2-mk7 directs calcium to bones and teeth amd away from soft tissues).

Yes, that is my concern, I do already take K2 with D3

I shall add a calcium check to my wish list tomorrow

I'm 54, is there a trigger point for the NHS to do a bone density test do you know?

My mum shrank by a good 6 inches in her dotage but I don't know if this was preventable?

I don't know of any personally, I've never been offered one, despite being over 70 with suppressed TSH for over 20 years and my GP constantly telling me I'm overmedicated 🤷‍♀️. I'm just waiting for the day for her to tell me I risk osteoporosis then I'll suggest she sends me for a Dexa scan.

That seems shocking! I assume the serum calcium is only really showing content in the blood which could be leaching out of our bones?

Dealing with the NHS these last few years has been an eye opener as it seems they work on an 'after the horse has bolted' system 😩

Hi SD,

Yes I have threatened the dogs that I will be sharing their sardines 😁but I struggle with histamine and haven't been brave enough to try them yet.... need to eat really fresh meat and fish, so I'm not sure how tinned sardines are going to affect me?
