Got my blood results printed! Never seen result... - Thyroid UK
Got my blood results printed! Never seen results before so any insight greatly appreciated!
This is the previous levels taken in aug when stomach issues, dizziness and fatigue was starting
Sample taken after 14.00 so TSH would have likely been higher in morning nearer 09.00
Did you fast? Did you delay dose.
Lists serum free T3 is there a result?
Folate, ferritin, vitamin d & B12 always useful to have current result.
Were they tested?
Some sets of test need to be looked at in groups.
List any which aren’t in range.
That TSH was top of range in previous test - you would have benefited from increase then. Most feel well with TSH about 1.
You will need to retest thyroid levels again 6-8 weeks after recent dose increase in levothyroxine
Which brand of levothyroxine is 100mcg and which is 25mcg
Do you always get same brand 100mcg tablets
ALWAYS test thyroid levels early morning, ideally around 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
You need vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels tested…
Have you got any results and ranges for these?
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
Plus have you ever had thyroid antibodies tested for autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s
TPO and TG antibodies
The doctor has asked for me back in 4 weeks. Is this too short a time span?
The 100mg is Accord is the 25mg is Wockhardt. I’ve only started the 25mg a few weeks but the Accord brand is what they usually use apart from the odd occasion over the last 8yrs.
I don’t currently take any vitamins. Have started a probiotic tab for my stomach troubles.
I’ll post the remaining tests you mentioned here if I have them
Thanks so much
Vitamin B12 253 ng/L (197-771)
Folate 7.1 Ig/L (3.9-26.8)
Ferritin 75 ug/L (13-150)
Can’t see any tests for Vit D
That B12 level and folate is rather low. Ideally you want both results to be at the top end of their ranges.
But… before testing, it might be worth asking to be tested for pernicious anaemia in case that’s causing the low numbers. It’s probably due to your hypothyroidism being under medicated but it’s always best to get it checked.
Ferritin isn’t too bad considering.
I don’t know where you live, but where I am in Essex, we have a central hub that you can go for blood tests. This way I can always get an early morning appointment.
