Improvements

The thickening of skin I think it's called mxydema. Where u can't pinch your skin. I didn't realise my arms were full of it until they have improved on the medication. Can see the bones in my arms again. I thought it was muscle development. In my forearm. The ear wax reducing and the urine snell improving. These are unexpected improvements I've had because I didn't realise I even had them or where caused by this. I also don't feel the need to have a nap after work.

But what's still not improved and absolutely horrendous is the hair. And vitamins aren't the cause of it. I'm under increase shedding this past 5 weeks I wud say. I hope but hope is almost gone that I will see improvements under an increased dosage. I often wonder if symptoms reverse in the order they arrived. First thing you notice the last thing to improve. The hair loss was the first thing I noticed

Orthodox medicine do not recognise what you are describing. Some alternative or complementary therapies have a hierarchy of symptoms (e.g. homeopathy) or order of cure. For example most recent symptoms are first to go with oldest symptoms staying longer. Also that symptoms go from inside to outside. When I started my thyroid treatment my heart pain was the first to improve. I’d say that was a deep internal symptom and of most “clear and present danger”. It was an entirely unexpected symptom to go since I had had it for twenty five years. I was very pleased as no other medication had touched it. Hair is a very external part of the body so …… It sounds like you are still on the right track! PS it’s mucin under the skin.

Yes no one can seem to answer me if they do go away the way they arrived. I've had this hairloss for such a long time that I've lost almost all hope it will improve. I am certain almost that it's thyroid. It's definitely not vitamins and it's not fphl. As all my body hair was affected the same time the same way. I've thyroid eyebrows the lot. So heartbreaking. The mucin when you realise what it is, is very annoying. I still have it in my legs but pretty much gone from my arms

From the outside looking in it’s just too much of a coincidence that you are hypothyroid and have hair loss. I realise it’s not impossible that there could be another factor but heck, what are the odds? All body hair loss due to hypothyroidism is not unheard of. A friend of a friend of mine lost all her body hair too. Luckily her head hair did come back but it took its time. Lucky losing the mucin though, that seems to be a tough one too.

It's all thinned out everywhere the strands falling out so quickly and what grows back the little that does is disgusting in quality like spider webs

Hi Jump1, What thyroid medicines are you taking? Do you always get the same brand of thyroxine. Many people find that they are not interchangeable, but that one brand suits them better.

Can you let us know any recent blood test results that you have?

Recently I tried Erfa (NDT) but found that my hair got thinner. It's back to normal now that I'm not taking that, so I must have reacted to one of it's ingredients.

Levo same brand. Last results posted about 6 weeks ago when got dosage increased. Am being retested in two weeks to see if shud stay on 75. I've been dosing one day 100 one day 75. Gp has only given me dosage increase to 75. I'm sick of the having to wait for them to catch up. I won't improve their way. They weren't going to even increase until I asked

It could be worth trying a different brand of levo. Which one have you been using?

Mercury pharma. I was on Teva. And I did try another personal bought brand before. The Teva and pharma I didn't notice any difference nor on the other brand really. But in my head I don't trust any brand but the ones they supply in UK.

I just tried searching this site for 'hair loss'.

I found many previous posts such as this one where she says that Teva has made hair loss much worse.
