Anyone with Hashimoto taking Naltrexone (LDN)?

Hi, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto about 6 years ago and left to deal with it by myself. Saw an endocrinologist (who told me what I have) and a letter a few years latter from another consultant that recommend iron supplement (it did help a bit).

Apart from that I have received 0 help, instructions or information. Google has been my partner on this journey.

Now I found out there is this drug that could help patients like me. So wondering if I can get more information about being used in the UK.

Thanks

Hi

I've been researching LDN myself as I have Fibromyalgia and its used "off label". However its not prescribed routinely on the NHS due to lack of clinical trials and robust evidence for its use. So very unlikely your GP will be able to prescribe it.

There are large clinical trials going on in Sweden and Denmark which should conclude next year so maybe there will be good enough evidence for it to be prescribed more widely. Those who find it helpful are those with conditions like Fibro, CFS, and chronic migraine but I have seen people with other conditions claiming its helpful.

There's a Scottish pharmacy that can prescribe it, you pay for the consultation and if you meet the criteria you can get it issued. I'm hazy about whether you pay for the medication or how it works I'm afraid. If you pm me I can give you their details.

Or there are members here who source their own LDN from abroad who maybe able to help you. I've not looked into it so am unable to help you there. But undoubtedly a number have found it helpful. I really hope the ongoing clinical trials prove its effectiveness as it will be another potential treatment for those of us with difficult conditions that prove hard to treat.
