Thank you admins. Hi I am part of Scotland Parents Getting it Right for Young People with Long Term Conditions. Some of us are parents of yp with ME. I have a young person with autoimmune hypothyroid. We are starting to get meetings with MSPs and Ministers about how to improve health and education provision, school and post school. If you have a young person in Scotland please join above group. Or message me.

Thanks for posting and it is good that you have "Scotland Parents Getting it Right for Young People with Long Term Conditions".
If you can notify the "young person with autoimmune hypothyroid" members to this forum it can help/advise on how to feel well and be symptom-free.
The reason is that many GPs don't have sufficient knowledge of how best to treat patients who have a dysfunctional thyroid gland. I am one of them and had to diagnose myself after GP phoned to tell me that I had no problems. He failed to understand what a TSH of 100 could mean. Since then I have had a couple of other statements from the GP and I told him 'I'm sorry doctor that's incorrect'.
My health has been restored.
if you’re not already in contact with MSP Elaine Smith, suggest you get in contact
Has the information/advice that you received in your previous posts helped this young person with hypothyroidism.
Full thyroid testing is essential....which unfortunately is almost impossiblecto receive fron NHS.
Suggest this is the important first step to finding solutions
Test....TSH, FT4, FT3, vit D, vit B12, folate, ferritin and antibodies TPO and TG

I suspect nutrients (above) may be deficient along with low FT3
Post lab results and members will advise
in your shoes I'd want thyroid function thoroughly examined before ADHD is considered.....just my opinion.
As far as thyroid disease is concerned poor diagnoses and incorrect medication is not unusual if the patient fails to respond to basic levothyroxine treatment.....further investigation is then required.
if the patient has any lab results, which you are legally entitled to request from your surgery, you can post these here and members will help.
