I’ve been back to my local pharmacy this afternoon and they still don’t have this in. I then learned that they are not actually “out of stock” but that the price of 20mcg tablets has short up so there is a ban on ordering them. I was quoted £165 for Morningside and £80 for Teva and £80 for Accord. I have previously been told that Accord is Morningside.
It was suggested that I ask the GP to write the prescription for more 5mcg tablets.
I didn’t tell them that I had picked up Morningside easily yesterday with a green prescription at a small independent pharmacy about 20 miles from here. I would really like to be able to get all my thyroid medication at one pharmacy without several visits each time.

Hi 2pence I also do best with Morningside 20mcg and haven't had any problem getting them for the last couple of years thankfully. I'm in Scotland and get them from my local Boots as I had to yellow card the Teva ones. Just need to make sure they haven't made any mistakes before I leave the shop with my prescription. I certainly haven't heard anything about them shooting up in price, you can see the NHS drug tarrif prices on helvella 's post here:
The 20mcg tablets are all £59.31 for 28 regardless of make. The 10mcg morningside ones are £152.44. Is this maybe the price you've been told. Only morningside make the 10mcg tablets hence the separate price. They have come down in price a hell of a lot since I started taking them in 2018, they were about 5 times as much then. Hope this helps you get to the bottom of why they can't access the correct tablets for you. Good luck 💜
What you need to do is ask the Pharmacy where you got your Morningside if they will make sure they can dispense this brand at every prescription. If they can, you can get your prescription changed to that Pharmacy for all your meds, thyroid and any others. You can then explain to your GP that, as this pharmacy is so far away, can he/she prescribe 2 months at a time. It’s what I did and it worked.
