Availability of Morningside Liothyronine 5mg?

I have a regular script specifying Morningside Liothyronine 5mg which I take twice daily. My regular pharmacy has been unable to get hold of it in recent weeks and their supplier is sending Viatris brand instead. I have checked with another local pharmacy and their suppliers are out of stock. Morningside have said to me they have no supply issues. I am anxious about taking another brand as I have reacted badly to Roma and Teva in the past. Does anyone know what is happening or have any suggestions on a way forward? My current arrangement with the pharmacy is that they will provide a small amount of Viatris for me to try and see how I get on. Many thanks in advance for any advice.

I’ve also had a bad reaction to Roma and have ‘Morning side only’ on my prescription. Boots have managed to prescribe me 5mcg Morningside tablets recently, but my GP has put the 10mcg on my prescription as a standby. I simply cut the 10mcg in half when I can’t get the 5mcg.

I have had the same issues in the past with my Morningside. You can get it in different dosages, it may have been that your pharmacy couldn't get your usual 5mcg. I have 10mcg and split mine. I got given Mercury Pharma one time and it made me really ill and I avoid Teva like the plague. I found I had to phone round all pharmacies when I couldn't get my Morningside and managed to find some online in the end. Luckily I cancelled my order as I managed to source some and supplies seem OK for me the last few months

It is always possible to request Sigmapharm tablets!

Afraid I do not know if the actual cost to pharmacies is any different. But 5 microgram tablets are already on the NHS Drug Tariff at 12050 pennies for 28 tablets.

helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.

This link takes you to a page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and Google Drive, and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones.

The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrix for tablets, oral solutions and liothyronine available in the UK.

Thyroid UK have a list of pharmacies which will more than likely be able to source what you need and supply you by post. I had a similar problem and it was solved easily by contacting one of those on the list.
