i have hashimoto for 5 years

Recently i start to feel ill

Like a flu just without fever

I thought that my thyroid is unbalanced

But the only thing that of scale is folic acid

So i start to take b complex supplement

My question is

It’s possible that i feel bad when just my folic acus is low?

blood test results

Tsh -1.93 ( 0.2-4)

Ft4 - 15 (8-17)

Ft3- 6.1(3.5-7)

B12 -380( 250-850)

Folic acid -5 (5.9-18)

Was test done early morning, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

TSH is quite high for someone on levothyroxine. You possibly need small dose increase

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

No ferritin or vitamin D results?

B12 and folate are both too low

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid) .This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

Difference between folate and folic acid

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule)

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate methyl folate supplement and continue separate B12

Low B12 symptoms

b12deficiency.info/signs-an...

With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a B12 supplement as well as a B Complex (to balance all the B vitamins) initially for first 2-4 months.

once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

B12 range in U.K. is too wide

Interesting that in this research B12 below 400 is considered inadequate

Thank for your quick reply All the test is in the morning

I familiar with the rules

I take 50mg and 400 mch folic acid

I search for folate

My question is if its possible that i feel bad with that result

More likely to be your lowish B12 making you feel bad.

Your only on 50mcg levothyroxine?

That’s only a starter dose

Are you male or female

Approx how much do you weigh in kilo

How long have you been on just 50mcg levothyroxine

The complex b is 50 mcg doseLevo i take 100 mcg every day

Once a week i take 200 mcg

Totally 800 mcg in week

I am a male 37 years old

My antibodys get to the sky(above 3000)

I don’t think that the reault of the thyroid is problematic my ft4 and ft3 in the top of the scale

I wondering if folic acid that very low can cause me feel very sick

You should really be taking the active form of Folic Acid - Methylfolate.

Hi Adam, Suggest you get tested for Coeliac.....even if you've been tested before.

"Determine whether there is an underlying cause for the vitamin B12 or folate deficiency — this may require specialist referral.

If folate levels are low, assess dietary folic acid intake, and if history suggests malabsorption, check for coeliac disease by testing for antiendomysial or antitransglutaminase antibodies (depending on the local laboratory).

The main cause of folate malabsorption is gluten-induced enteropathy."
