Did you have Graves antibodies tested as suggested in reply to previous post?

To know if it's Graves you need TRAb/TSI antibodies tested.

For Hashi's it's TPO/Tg antibodies.

You've only shown TSH, FT4 and FT3 results.

This was the test recommended and i thought that this test was for graves ? I had difficulty with geting the test so i called medichecks and the lady took all details and put it through for me as i was trying to get on a Thursday were there was a discount. So is the test i have had not for graves disease ? X

This the Medichecks test for Graves associated antibodies

medichecks.com/products/tsh...

This is for TRab (which measures blocking, neutral & stimulating antibodies)

The title refers to stimulating which is misleading.

TSI is test for stimulating only.

Both are considered biomarkers for Graves

This is your previous post

I gave you the link to Medichecks test for the Graves antibodies test - TSH Receptor Antibodies test (TRAb) in my reply to you there, the TRAb test it is a stand one test not part of a bundle, in fact 3 of us said to get TRAb test done. If Medichecks told you this bundle tested for Graves then they misinformed you. If this is what happened, and you are sure that you explained that you wanted the TRAb test then I would complain and ask for a refund then arrange for the correct test.

Was TPO & TG antibodies tested on this test. (Autoimmunity results are hidden) What were results. Type out if easier (include range)

Was this thyroid function test with antibodies or with nutrients as well?

One test has 5 biomarker the advanced has 10?

How long had you taken PTU 200mg when test taken.

FT3 higher in range but within in FT4 also in range.

Dose will likely need to be adjusted down soon to stop that going under range. Doctors focus on TSH but dose needs adjustments by FT4 & FT3.

Your bio says you took carbimazole for 8 months in 2013. 8 months is a long time for a transient hyper caused by Hashimoto’s but quite short for a Graves diagnosis where treatment is usually at least a year or longer.

Carbimazole stopped as you had reaction so using PTU this time.

Was TSI or TRab not tested in 2013? There still may be records.

What were results like when taking carbimazole & between being hyperthyroid. You had some low results so you may have both Hashi & Graves.

Medichecks have sold you wrong test. If you requested graves antibodies.

(They must be as knowledgeable as doctors)

You already had positive TPO antibodies & doesn’t need to be repeated.

Wow that’s a very high antibodies result

But these TPO and TG antibodies are present with Hashimoto’s or Graves’ disease

Request GP test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels

With Graves or Hashimoto’s we frequently have very low vitamin levels

When were vitamin D, folate and B12 last tested

Ferritin levels tend to be high with Graves

Hello again :

Looking back at your ' bio ' you were first diagnosed Graves in 2013 so if you have on line access, check your medical records and look back at around that time for a positive and over range TR ab - thyroid receptor blocking antibody reading.

Once a Graves patient always a Graves patient - as Graves is an auto immune disease and as such for life, and I too likely have Graves circulating in my blood though considered ' sorted ' by the medical mainstream as I went through RAI thyroid ablation back in 2005 - a treatment I deeply regret - but that's another story.

You don't need to keep checking for Graves antibodies, they can wax and wane throughout one's life, just as you do not need to keep checking for Hashimoto's antibodies and this current blood test result is showing you positive for Hashimoto's AI thyroid disease.

You can have Graves and Hashimoto' running at the same time and treatment for Graves Disease takes precedence as Graves is presumed life threatening - if not medicated with the AT drugs, like Carbimazole or Propylthiouracil ( PTU ) .

You might to dip into Graves :

and for Hashimoto's :

The most recent research is suggesting the longer the patient stays on the AT medication the better the outcome for the patient : pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/338...
