Just wondering if anyone on here takes or recommends iodine supplements for hypothyroidism. I have not been diagnosed with this condition however my levels ar going to the higher end of normal range, so I cannot yet get medication on the nhs. However I have been looking into taking iodine but just not sure if this is a good idea or not.
many thanks for any help or advice x

Jen iodine can affect thyroid function in a bad way . I supplemented with iodine when I was not iodine deficient. It sent my struggling thyroid haywire.Only supplement with iodine if you have tested your levels and been found to be lacking.
Hey Jen, if you post your results and ranges the group may be able to help you. If you asked my GP practice they would say my results are normal. Only one GP in the 5 I’ve seen noticed my Hashi Antibodies. This group has been a complete life changer. Wishing you well 🦋💚🦋
No, don't consider iodine supplements unless you test first with a non-loading iodine test and find that you are deficient, then supplement under the guidance of an experienced practioner who follows the protocol.
Iodine solution used to be used treat hypERthyroidism before the current radioactive iodine treatment so can cause hypOthyroidism or make it worse.
If you want to test then Genova Diagnostics do the correct test:
