Morning all, I feel I have let myself down. I only remembered I was having my bloods done at 10-00am an hour before due to my son reminding me! so I had had breakfast coffee and all my medication before I had my blood test.
This is my result TSH 0.52 mu/L [0.27 - 4.2
this is the only thing they tested.
My last TSH TWELVE WEEKS AGO WAS 4.3
Would my new results be to far off with me not following the correct procedures set out with the group.

Oh bless you, it’s so easily done. I’ve just had a text reminder of a hair appointment I don’t remember making 🙈 I’ll be putting that off till after payday. Looking at that result I think you will need to test again with your usual pre bloods routine. It’s £29 with monitor my health which is an nhs lab and home finger prick jobbie. My GP accepts their results from me. Hope you get what you need 🦋💚🦋
taking the levo before the test would affect the fT4 result but not the TSH... so as they haven't tested fT4 this time, taking the levo is not a problem. coffee may have lowered the TSH a bit , or it may not, we don't know for sure, and we don't know by how much.... so we say 'no coffee' to be on the safe side and to be consistent
The TSH result for the day has already been pretty much decided in the middle of the night, and the main effect on TSH level is the time of day you take the blood, as that level falls gradually throughout the day till it's lowest around 1-3pm ish , then rises slowly again.
If you want to know if there is much of a difference, you could retest again privately.
As the TSH result you got is 'in range' , hopefully the GP won't be bothered by it .
However If you were hoping for a dose increase ,the lowish TSH will probably mean they are reluctant to give one.
If you want to stay on the dose you are on, and they suggest lowering it due to this lowish TSH result , then say you would prefer to be left on this dose for now and be retested in a few months to see what the TSH is then, before they decide.
You're not alone in messing-up...... i think there is a universal law , like Sod's Law, that says "the one time you mess up taking your medication will be the day of your blood test .. and the more you wanted the test to be accurate , the more likely it is you'll mess up and forget to do what you intended" ... i've taken to moving my levo from where i normally keep it the night before a test so i can't take it on 'autopilot' .
😂 I like the answer especially the auto pilot. That’s me every 5am every day. I have just ordered a private test as the person before advised thanks for your answer.
