Accord in a Northstar box

Good morning all. Since the start of my hashimoto journey I have, after a brief time on teva, been taking Accord and finally been feeling human again.

Last time I collected my meds I got a box of Northstar. I queried it as it says Accord on my prescription and they showed me it was infact Accord. The strips had Accord written on them.

So....is it just a coincidence that I feel terrible!? I feel like I've gone backwards. So much pain everywhere.

Anyone have experience of the brand change.

Many thanks 😊

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking

How long on this dose

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change

Northstar levothyroxine, in 50 and 100 microgram dosages, is Accord product.

It should be just the same as any other Accord levothyroxine product - including that packaged as Almus.

(But 25 microgram Northstar is Teva. Just to confuse.)

If you have any issues, please do a Yellow Card report:

I suggest, if it is feasible, you should also consider going back to the pharmacy. You might manage to get a replacement.

(I have had Accord, Northstar and Almus - and have not felt there was any difference. But that does NOT mean you are not having issues.)

Looking at previous post 7 months ago

You had dose increase to 75mcg daily

Vitamin D was insufficient and ferritin far far too low

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Have you had thyroid and vitamin levels retested since dose increase

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Optimal ferritin is at least over 70

Vitamin D needs testing twice year when supplementing

I take 100mg and have done so for a few months now. Dr hasn't suggested taking bloods again as happy with levels.

I take vit d3 3000mg, vit k2, complex vit b, magnesium and zinc. No ferritin though

Suggest you get full thyroid and vitamin testing done 2-3 months after increasing levothyroxine dose

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Blue Horizon Thyroid Premium Gold includes antibodies, cortisol and vitamins

Remember to stop taking vitamin B complex a week before test

Are you vegetarian or vegan

Not vegan/vegetarian. Thanks so much. I am experiencing a lot of stress at the moment which may not help.

I'll get a private test done.

Stress and thyroid are not good companions

Sailing14, as this is not a current post, it might be better if you start a new post of your own to ask your question. More people will notice it and be able to respond.

Thyroid diseases puts strain on adrenals as adrenals try to compensate for lack of thyroid hormones, especially if not adequately treated

Stress increases demand for adrenal hormones…..

Many many posts discussing adrenals and cortisol etc on here

Dr hasn't suggested taking bloods again as happy with levels.

Who is happy? You or Dr?

You are obviously now having issues.

And what levels can your Dr be happy with if you have not been tested - recently?

Re-test is an obvious step to identifying what is wrong.

Haha, good point. Will get a private test done. Thank you
