Update on T3 blood results, any thoughts

Hi All

After wonderful advice here 7 months ago contacted a private endo.

I was prescribed T3 : 5mcg morning for 10 days then added 5mcg of T3 afternoon, reduced levothyroxine to 0.05mg from 0.075mg on endo request.

Felt improvement first week but seem fatigued as much if not a bit more as weeks have passed.

Plus confusion

Week 4 had bloods taken, but unfortunately forgot to stop vitamins containing biotin.

Results

THS: 0.3 mU/l (0.10 - 5.00U/L)

FT4: 12 pmol/L (12 - 23pmol/L)

FT3: 4.3pmol/L (3.50 - 6.50pmol/L)

Tsh is lower (was2.41), Ft4 has dropped (was19.5) and ft3 is up a little( was3.22)

Any thoughts

Speaking to the endo on tuesday

Thank you for looking

Levothyroxine been reduced too much (We see this all the time)

Request 25mcg dose increase in levothyroxine

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription?

Retest in 6-8 weeks

Most people on levothyroxine plus T3 need BOTH Ft4 and Ft3 at least 50% through range minimum

When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels last tested

Same brand levothyroxine. Not tested for about 7 months for Vit D, folate, ferritin and B12.Im on 4 weekly B12 injections and take Vitamin d /K2.

Thank you so much for your advice, I'll ask Tuesday

What were vitamin levels on last test

Suggest you get vitamin D, folate and ferritin retested

How much vitamin D are you currently taking

Multivitamins are never recommended on here

Most contain iodine not recommended for anyone on levothyroxine

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid) This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Thorne Basic B recommended option that contains folate, but large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule)

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate methyl folate supplement and separate B12

Low B12 symptoms

If serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a B12 supplement as well as a B Complex (to balance all the B vitamins) initially for first 2-4 months.

once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.
